The Philadelphia Eagles drastically defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 9 in Super Bowl LIX. A couple of days later, the team’s A.J. Brown visited one of the survivors of the deadly plane crash in Northeast Philly. Until then, everything was fine with the Eagles’s celebration. But then came the Super Bowl parade, which was attended by about 30,000 people. And a series of disturbing events took place since then, the latest including Patrick Mahomes.
The Eagles captured their second Super Bowl win after 7 years. As obvious, it is special for the franchise as well as the entire Philly Nation. So, the team organized a SB parade ride on the city’s famed Broad Street. However, the honoring moment suddenly turned into a nightmare for the green-clad fans present over there. According to the reports, two people were sh-t during Friday’s parade, reminding us of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ parade incident. But that just didn’t happen. To make it worse, especially for the Chiefs’ nation, the Eagles’ fans threw a personal jab at the quarterback.
MLFootball on X shared a photo of Kermit the Frog puppet in a miserable state. In the picture, “#Eagles fans are HANGING a Kermit the Frog wearing a Pat Mahomes jersey in the streets of Philadelphia during the Super Bowl Parade.” The puppet is seen hanged over the Eagles’s flag, to show the fans’s hatred towards Patrick Mahomes.

We all know that Patrick Mahomes has often been referred to as Kermit the Frog puppet due to his voice. Be it Raiders, Bills, or Eagles, many of the NFL team’s fans, or even the team (in the case of Las Vegas), had made fun of the QB using this frog. This past season, when the Buffalo fans did the same—hanging the frog puppet to a traffic post, Mahomes’s wife Brittany Mahomes lashed out at them with a message after the AFC win.
Now once again, the Philly nation did this. So, it remains to be seen who next comes up to defend Patrick Mahomes. However, until then, as X post stated, “This has received heavy backlash from Kansas City fans.”
KC fans questioned Eagles fans’ after Patrick Mahomes incident
The Chiefs were crushed at the Super Bowl game in New Orleans by the Eagles, 40-22. But some Philly fans turned it into festivities for them. After the shoo–ng incident due to a skirmish at the Ben Franklin Parkway, the fans went ahead to brutally mock Patrick Mahomes. This resulted in many backlashes for them. For instance, one wrote, “Doesn’t surprise me. Most, not all Eagles fans are classless. They’ve proven that time and time again. Only ruthless, ugly hearted people would boo Dak at a ceremony, acknowledging his good character off the field.” This fan recalled Dak Prescott’s incident, which happened in 2023.

Prior to Super Bowl LVII, Andrew Whitworth presented Prescott with the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. However, this celebratory mood turned into boos from the Eagles’ fans. Hence, because of this and other incidents as well, other team’s fans think “Eagles fans are the worst.” In addition, after Patrick Mahomes was personally attacked, someone came up saying, “Their punishment is having to live in Philadelphia.” Not only that! Besides these hate and personal comments, many also took this humiliation on the Black community. For example, a fan commented, “I think it’s received backlash from normal human beings. Showing a Kermit doll representing a black man being lynched is a terrible thing no matter who you are a fan of in the NFL…” Others chimed in saying, “Well, lynching black men has always received backlash from rational human beings regardless of fandom.”

Hanging a doll reportedly represents a black man – crossed a line. Hence, for many, it wasn’t just trash talk or rivalry battle. It evoked a painful history, making it more than just a joke. That’s why people, regardless of team loyalty, found it disturbing and unacceptable. Nevertheless, as many believed it to be the fun of Patrick Mahomes, his die-hard fans warned them by saying, “A be careful y’all won one don’t poke the bear,” or “We can probably knock that sh– off now.” So, yeah, it remains to be seen how Mahomes answers this humiliation.
