Caleb Williams and the Bears are a perfect match. Last month, the team managed to snag the quarterback during the NFL Drafts. However, head coach Matt Eberflus had chosen not to share his thoughts on the recent addition yet. Now, after a day of rookie minicamp, the 53-year-old has finally opened up about the 22-year-old former USC athlete.

Shortly after Williams was named the Bears’ starter ahead of the camp, the coach stated on a podcast that the athlete was “awesome. In a recent episode of Up & Adams, Eberflus told the host, Kay Adams, “He’s all about football. You know, obviously, we all know he can spin it.” He also ended up adding that it was an “exciting” journey to be on with the 22-year-old. The seasoned coach also added, “There’s no shortcuts, there’s no easy way, you gotta go through the steps.”

Eberflus was also asked what about Williams had surprised him. After all, he had only seen the sporting side of the athlete so far. The coach thought about it and responded, “When he’s with the guys he’s really funny and has a really good way about him and he’s at ease in his own skin, so I think that he’s gonna be really good in the locker room.” After all, with the 22-year-old coming into the team along with Rome Odunze, there is no denying that there is a sense of comfort given that they went through the process together.

In fact, with them being teammates, their bond seems to be growing just a little bit deeper every day. Even though the media has been trying to pit them against each other, it looks like neither Williams nor Odunze is willing to participate.

Ever since the NFL Drafts this year, Caleb Williams has been the one to watch. With analysts and recruiters showing major interest in the star athlete, it was no surprise that he was the first overall draft pick. However, he was not the only noteworthy one. In fact, the Chicago Bears managed to bag the best pick of the draft when they got the wide receiver, Rome Odunze. With two amazing stars on the team, it was expected that both athletes would be equally fanned over, but that was not the case.

In a recent media conference ahead of the rookie minicamp, Odunze was asked whether he found it less stressful to “fit in” because Williams was in the spotlight. Without skipping a beat, the 21-year-old stated, “I wouldn’t say it’s easier. I think we’re both coming in as rookies trying to do our best to get involved with the culture, with this organization, and be the best teammates possible that we can be.”

Odunze also added that he thought Williams was doing a tremendous job before stating, “I’m trying my best at it as well.” Luckily for the 21-year-old, he understands that practice can make perfect and has no plans to give up. With the quarterback being named the starter, they may have to speed up building their on-field connection.
