When Caleb Williams, the QB from Southern California, made his entrance at his pro day on Wednesday, the first face he saw was that of Keenan Allen, the recent Chicago Bears recruit. Allen’s presence wasn’t solitary. Bears’ HC Matt Eberflus and the GM Ryan Poles were also there, eyes fixed on Williams.

But should he go to the Bears? Or should he pull off an Eli Manning and demand that the Bears do not pick him? Keyshawn Johnson thinks that if sticks it out with the Bears, something miraculous might happen.

Michael Jordan’s “golden years” in the 1990s saw him steer the Chicago Bulls to a tally of six championships. In a similar vein, Keyshawn Johnson believes that Williams has the potential to do the same thing with the Bears. USC WR Brenden Rice said, “I think he’s going to go stick out the situation and ball out in the beautiful city of Chicago because that’s who he is.”

Johnson, who’s played with Williams, expressed his confidence in him saying he could recreate “the glory years of Michael Jordan. And they got all them receivers. Well, now they weapons.” After the squad traded Justin Fields, they have plenty of cap space to recruit more offensive weapons.

And after the Pro Day workout, it’s getting more certain that Williams will join the Bears.

Williams inching closer to the Bears

As the buzz around Caleb Williams and his potential future with the Chicago Bears intensifies, recent developments have only fueled the speculation. The Bears’ recent acquisition of WR Keenan Allen from the Chargers adds another layer of confirmation. Allen, a seasoned pro, isn’t just a valuable asset on the field, he also shares a personal connection with Williams.

I’ve known Keenan for probably a year now, I’ve hung out with him a few times,” Williams shared. And so to have him here and for me to possibly be going to the same team as him now, it’s exciting. … To possibly be able to have him as a wide receiver coming off his best year, all the knowledge that you can gain from somebody like that, it’s great.”

Caleb Williams did get to interact with the team’s HC and GM. However, he clarified that these interactions were more about mutual exploration than the Bears having to pitch their team to him. “They’re trying to see if I’m the right fit to be first pick as QB and possibly be the face of the franchise,” explained the rookie QB. He further added, “They’re trying to figure out if this is the guy they should invest all the time, energy, effort, and money into, which is obviously important in this situation. So it was great and just building relationships.”
