Since the NFL Draft last month, Caleb Williams has been on top of everyone’s radar. Apart from being the overall No. 1 pick and most recently being named the Bears’ starting quarterback, the 22-year-old has already garnered quite a huge following. Now, as the former USC student heads into rookie minicamp with his teammates and has begun regular interactions with the media, he has received a bit of advice from a senior producer of The Rich Eisen Show.

In a recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show, the sports commentator and his co-hosts discussed the hot topic of the Chicago Bears’ quarterback, Caleb Williams. After agreeing that the rookie being picked as the team’s starter was some “straightforward stuff,” Chris Brockman was more focused on the young athlete’s interview following the announcement. After answering questions about his leadership, the 22-year-old closed up the interview session with “Go Bears,” as he walked away.

Although it did not seem like much, it sent Eisen and Brockman into a frenzy. While the host asked if the phrase would become a regular thing, the producer joked, “Learn from Russell Wilson..You know what I mean, Go Hawks!” referencing the Steelers’ star’s almost slip-up in a post-match interview from a few years ago. Although it had happened when the 35-year-old had just joined his former team, the Denver Broncos, two years ago, it looks as though no one has forgotten the quarterback’s mistake.

After all, it all went down shortly after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Broncos during Russell’s first return to Lumen Field since he was traded to Denver.

Russell Wilson’s Broncos-Seahawks mix-up

In 2022, Russell Wilson was playing out his first year as the Broncos’ lead quarterback. Although his debut had gone rather well, he seemed to fumble when it came time to take on his former team, the Seahawks. With the 35-year-old being outplayed by his former replacement and teammate, Gino Smith, who wound up proving everyone who doubted him wrong with the surprising 17-16 win.

After the game had finished and pleasantries were exchanged, Wilson ended his night with a press conference to talk about the game and what it was like being back in Seattle. At the end of the conversation, the 35-year-old almost ended up saying “Go Hawks” instead of his usual “Go Broncos, let’s ride!” Although the quarterback managed to hold his tongue, the eagle-eyed paparazzi and fans were quick to catch on.

Since then, the moment has kept making its way back into the spotlight, thanks to fans, throwbacks, and the internet. The incident might have happened 2 years ago and Wilson has since moved on from the Broncos after being fired. However, it does not look like anyone will be getting over the quarterback’s almost slip-up anytime soon.

Although, with Wilson already having shifted teams, there is a high chance that history could repeat itself and give the NFL world another memorable yet hilarious moment starring the quarterback.
