The Houston Texans are set for the divisional round! Following the 45-14 win against the Cleveland Browns in the wild card round at NRG Stadium today, the Texans paved their way to the AFC divisional round. With this win, the Texans compensated for the last time they lost against the Browns in the regular season. The matchup saw an incredible performance from C.J. Stroud, who even outperformed the veteran Joe Flacco.
Interestingly, Stroud Records doesn’t speak like a rookie. And when looking closely at the stats, the champion could have overshadowed Russell Wilson if Davis Mill hadn’t stepped in the middle.

During the matchup, Stroud threw for a stunning 236 yards and three touchdowns before halftime and took a 24-14 lead. The defense took over after that. In addition, Stephen Nelson and Christian Harris both scored touchdowns off interceptions on back-to-back drives, giving them a commanding 38-14 lead in the third quarter. Stroud could have reached the rushing record of Russell Wilson, as he has the most passing yards by a rookie quarterback in a playoff game, with 385 yards in the 2012 NFL divisional game versus the Falcons on January 13, 2013. Stroud had 274, with Davis Mills stepping in the middle.

A throwback to Wilson’s incredible performance!
Wilson threw an astounding 385 passes to the Seahawks in the fourth quarter. While attempting this move, the quarterback shook up the NFL scene as he outnumbered the top record, which was previously held by Redskin quarterback Sammy Baugh. Moreover, the champion captured everyone’s hearts by completing an impressive 24 out of 36 passes and scoring two touchdowns, which helped the Seahawks turn a 27-7 disadvantage into a 28-27 lead.

Previously, Baugh threw around 335 yards during the matchup against the Chicago Bears in 1937. Until now, only Baugh and Wilson were the only two quarterbacks to accomplish more than 300 passing yards in the NFL. The history could be repeated today, but maybe it couldn’t have happened because of Davis Mill’s arrival. What are your thoughts on Stroud’s performances? Do share your thoughts below!
