The Philadelphia Eagles secured a 37-34 victory over the Buffalo Bills, becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Bills stand at 6-6. With this record, the Bills are on the verge of losing a spot in the playoffs. What’s more frustrating for the Bills is that they were leading the game until the third quarter (24-14), but ultimately lost in the fourth quarter and overtime.

The main villain for the Bills was Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who played an incredible game in overtime, leading to the Eagles securing their 10th win of the season.

In the first half, the Bills nearly dominated the Eagles with a score of 17-7. It seemed like the Bills were on the verge of pulling off one of the season’s biggest upsets, but Eagles’ quarterback Hurts ensured it wouldn’t happen. Hurts had a rather average performance in the first half, completing 4 of 11 passes for 33 yards and failing to secure a single touchdown, resulting in a passer rating of 7.0. However, in the second half, Hurts improved significantly, going 14 of 20 for 137 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

He not only won the game for the Eagles but also, in the rivalry between him and Josh Allen, proved that he is better, at least in this game. Allen scored two touchdowns and ran for 81 yards.

As the fourth quarter concluded, both teams were tied at 31 points, prompting the game to enter overtime. With just 2:37 remaining in overtime, Hurts made a 12-yard touchdown run, securing the game for the Eagles. The Bills had 20 seconds left to attempt a field goal, but coach Sean McDermott chose to take a knee.

Is there any hope left for the Bills?

The defeat against the Eagles isn’t the first time this season that the Bills have come agonizingly close to winning only to end up on the losing side. Similar to their loss against the Eagles, they also lost their opening game against the New York Jets in overtime, despite dominating most of the game. In Week 10, they suffered a loss to the Denver Broncos due to having 12 players on the field during a missed field goal. This sums up the Bills’ story this season, where they’ve narrowly missed victory multiple times, resulting in their current standing of 6-6.

Their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are only at 15%, according to estimates. Bills have five more games left to play; however, they are set to confront some of the top teams in the NFL, such as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys, in their remaining matchups. It will be intriguing to see if the Bills can stage a comeback in the final stretch of their games and secure a spot in the playoffs.
