QB Cam Newton has heated the scene in the NFL community as Ryan Clark and Bucky Brooks stand on different sides. Free agent Cam Newton’s recent comment on the in-form QBs Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy caught the eye of the fans and has gotten a mixed bag of reactions.

Just two days back, he addressed the likes of Prescott, Purdy, and Tua Tagovailoa as ‘game managers’ instead of saying ‘game changers’. All three QBs are ruling the tables in terms of TDs and passing yards and this kind of statement has surely turned many heads. Now the two legends of the game have given their opinions on the matter.

Bucky Brooks and Ryan Clark: Contrasting Opinions on Newton

QB Cam Newton joined the Panthers squad in 2011 and was a mainstay till 2019. The team signed him again as a free agent, but he didn’t get more chances to play. In his comments, legend Ryan Clark first came in support of the veteran on X.

Amid the backlash on Newton’s comment, Clark has said, “The way y’all acted because he called QBs ‘game managers’ was weird to me. Let’s be clear when it comes to quarterback play Cam ain’t tweeting from his mom’s basement”. He respected the veteran’s accomplishments through the years and further added, “So you don’t have to agree. Hell, I don’t, but you sure as hell have to respect the accomplishments of the man making the statement.”

Former legend Bucky Brooks was quick to notice the post by Ryan Clark and has given his opinion in a contrasting way. Brooks accoladed Newton’s accomplishments and said, “He can voice his opinions from his perspective as a former MVP and Heisman Trophy winner. Whether we agree with his opinion or not” He further appreciated Newton’s viewpoint and added, “If we can respect the opinion of others who haven’t played, played as well, or played a different position, we certain can respect an ex-QB with hardware that validates his performance as an ‘elite’ player”

Interpretation of both opinions

While Clark didn’t support Newton but respected his opinion, Brooks acknowledged that Newton was speaking from experience and his ability; and he’s not just as a mere nobody. Recently Newton himself shed light on the statement and clarified lingering doubts.
