The NFL season has started and players have started to knock it out of the park. While some NFLers are outperforming their competition, a few teams might be second-guessing their decision to trade certain key players. And as the season heats up, fans and analysts are drawing a line in the sand, making it clear who the top players are. Well, with the preseason itself, everyone was raising their eyebrow at Browns‘ Deshaun Watson, but the situation got even worse after Sunday’s match!
While the Cowboys-33 vs Browns-17 result is hard to foresee, it was one of the worst season openers. And fans just can’t stop talking about it. On Monday’s Ken Carman show, a fan started the sports talk by comparing Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson’s quarterback ratings.
The fan said that while Watson’s rating is 42.9, Mayfield stands at 144. However, it didn’t go well, and the question resulted in Ken Carman’s meltdown. The sports anchor shouted at the top of his lungs, “Guys, I’m not doing it right out of the damn box. Can I have a little bit of time before we do this?”

With steam coming out of his ears, he added he’s aware of the QB ratings and he just cannot talk about Mayfield in the first call itself! Carman mentioned how the Bucs quarterback had a great game and congratulated him for his success. However, he also mentioned he cannot undo the trade! The host said, “He ain’t coming home. He ain’t coming back. Only to play us. I can’t undo the trade.”

However, Je’Rod Cherry, the former NFL safety, has a different take on it. The three times Super Bowl winner said, “But, again, [it’s] a team sport and you know this like I know it.” He added how the whole Browns offense was weak and the QB is not the only one to be blamed for. Well, with mixed reactions to Watson’s game and Mayfield’s trade, did Cleveland Brown take a wrong turn? And is Watson responsible for the Dawgs’ defeat?

Have an interesting take?
Is Deshaun Watson responsible for the Cleveland Browns’ loss against the Cowboys?
Baker Mayfield suffered through a catastrophic shoulder injury in 2021, which ultimately started his end with the Cleveland Browns. This capped off with Deshaun Watson becoming the starting quarterback of the team. Well, fast forward to 2024, in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, the second-highest-paid player struggled and completed only 24 of 45 passes for just 169 yards. It was surely a bad day for Watson as he scored only one touchdown and two interceptions, getting the short end of the stick–a rough passer rating of 51.1.
Undoubtedly, the NFL world is blaming the quarterback’s shaky performance for the Browns’ loss, making the game one-sided and disappointing. And to add more trouble for him, analysts say it was one of the worst performances by any quarterback. NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky said on ESPN’s Get Up, “Quarterback is a problem in Cleveland.” He also suggested how the team might move to Jameis Winston as the starting quarterback!

On top of that, Deshaun Watson is under fire, as there has been another case of s—-l a—–t filed against him by another lady. Whatever may be the case, Watson is not having a good time. Awaiting decision from the commission, Browns might just be regretting the $230 Million contract given to him.
Well, with all the criticism and concerns, will Deshaun Watson be able to prove everyone wrong? Or will Watson be under hot water as the plot thickens? As the season proceeds, let’s see what the future holds for both, Deshaun Watson and Cleveland Browns!
