Like the good old seasons of Game of Thrones where every episode would give us a surprise, the Browns have also kind of adopted George RR Martin’s playbook in their drama with Myles Garrett. Every day there seems to be some twist around Garrett’s future in Cleveland. On one hand, the Browns are adamant about not trading Garrett. And on the other hand, Garrett is stubborn in his stance of not continuing in Cleveland and being a part of God knows how many more rebuildsWith that being said, Garrett came to a decision today that could have calmed things down. However, the Browns have yet again made a mockery out of themselves, which isn’t really surprising at this point.

So, in today’s episode of Cleveland circus directed by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. He did something incredible that makes the franchise look like a joke. As per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Garrett apparently wanted a one-on-one meeting with Haslam to talk things out like professionals. But Haslam’s ego and stance to not trade Garrett came ahead of maintaining a basic decency. He straight up rejected the prospect of meeting with Garrett. Actually, not only that.

Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot further added some details to Pelissero’s reports, which made this whole thing look even more embarrassing. According to Cabot, Haslam redirected Garrett to speak with Browns GM Andrew Berry instead. Seems like he doesn’t want to dig his nose into the whole drama. So, basically, this means Berry is in charge of Garrett’s future. And if it’s true, then there’s no chance he will be listening to any plea made by Garrett.

Garrett probably saw fellow star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who led the league in sacks (17.5) last season, get his permission to seek a trade and thought why not take his chances. However, yet again, the Browns star edge rusher didn’t get what he wanted. Berry has constantly reiterated the fact that No.95 is not for trade. No amount of first-round picks, second-round or anything, will change the Browns’ stance on the matter. Even though Garrett has refused to sign a mammoth contract extension, the Browns still want to hang on to him for dear life.

But they might have to give him up sooner rather than later. Because the Commanders are on the Browns‘ tail and citing Garrett’s desire to play in Washington, you can’t rule anything out.

Is Myles Garrett moving to the capital soon?

Clearly, the Commanders are a team on the rise with rookie sensation Jayden Daniels leading the pack. If not for the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Eagles. Who knows, maybe the Commanders could have earned their first Lombardi since 1991 to complete a fairy tale story. However, it wasn’t meant to be, as they got dismantled in the NFC Championship game. But things could have been way different if they had a name like Myles Garrett in their defense. So, when Garrett was asked about one team he saw as a potential destination if the Browns agreed to trade him, he named the Washington Commanders.

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Browns making a mistake by refusing to trade Myles Garrett despite his request?

Have an interesting take?

“I’ve thought about the squads that could use a guy like me, I think the Commanders are amongst them. I think they need a pass rusher. I think that’s something they clearly missed in the playoffs and some of their big games, I feel like I could fill that role.” Of course, he can walk into the Commanders backline and instantly change their fortunes. Just imagine Daniels throwing those TDs with his eyes closed and Garrett hitting those QBs with his monstrous presence. It would simply be a dream pairing on both sides of the football. But will it happen? That is a different question altogether.

If it doesn’t happen, then you can expect Garrett’s relationship with the Browns to take an even uglier turn. Somewhere down the line, I feel Garrett will not play a single game if his wishes aren’t fulfilled. Maybe the Browns should let the man go and chase his Super Bowl, something he will not get in Cleveland, at least for now.
