New week, the same result and similar storylines surround the Browns’ camp as they fall to their fifth defeat of the season. With QB Deshaun Watson continuing his awful start to the season, it doesn’t seem like the Browns are going anywhere with him leading the line. After finishing his game by completing only 16-of-23 passes for 168 yards and no TDs, fans were seemingly calling out the Browns to drop him.
“How is Deshaun Watson still in the lineup? I don’t get it,” one of the fans said as the Browns struggled to come away with something in Philadelphia. Although Watson didn’t impress and failed to show any glimpses of improvement, head coach Kevin Stefanski doesn’t seem to have given up yet, as he spoke about sticking with Watson even after fans wanted a change in their QB room.

Well, Watson’s season doesn’t have enough numbers to back his claim as a starter for the Browns. Over the six games he played this season, Watson has yet to surpass 200 passing yards, which is way below what was expected of him. Considering the $230 million contract he signed back in 2022, benching him wouldn’t make any sense in Cleveland.
Anyhow, his earning from the contract is fully guaranteed, thereby putting the Browns in a difficult position to escape from his services. Adding thoughts to his performances this season, one of the fans expressed, “Deshaun Watson has done nothing on the field for the Browns to warrant them giving him the benefit of the doubt or all these chances. The only reason he is still starting is because of his contract.”
While fans gave their thoughts about Watson’s future in Cleveland, the franchise is to be blamed, considering the way he was brought into the team.

Exploring the Cleveland Browns debacle with Deshaun Watson’s trade
Leaving out the contract that the Browns decided to give Watson, they traded six draft picks, three of them from the first round, to bring him into Cleveland. Well, was it a good decision? Absolutely not. As the 29-year-old has more lawsuits (27) in his name than the touchdown passes (19) he made while playing for the Browns. And considering the way he has been performing this season, it doesn’t seem like Watson would be anywhere close to surpassing this embarrassing stat.
Even his backup, Jameis Winston, who could start in his place, has previous records of s—— a—— on his name. Although he had his settled by paying a whopping $950,000 in January 2016. The Browns’ problems may not be settled the way their QBs are lining up this season.

Well, there was someone within the Browns camp who spoke about the mistake of handing Watson such a lucrative contract, “I know! Let’s stake our future on a quarterback who has been accused by more than two dozen women of s—— misconduct and harassment and has missed an entire season of play, and still faces another suspension. And while we’re at it, let’s give him the biggest guaranteed contract in league history!”
Although there’s no denying that the Browns have made a mistake by relying upon Deshaun Watson, it may be time for them to find a possible solution, or else it could end their season early after losing yet another game this season.
