Just when we thought we had enough of NFL offseason surprises, a buzzing surprise from Amon-Ra St. Brown and Myles Garrett strikes in. While the Eagles still aren’t over their Super Bowl LIX win, a storm is on the horizon. And by “storm”, we’re not talking about the usual opponents like the Dallas Cowboys or San Francisco 49ers. Instead, the Detroit Lions and the Cleveland Browns, are in the question for taking unpredictable shifts with their recent trade requests.
Recently, the Browns’ pass rusher Myles Garrett said he wanted out. Yes! the All-Pro has reportedly requested a trade, making it clear that he wants to play for a real Super Bowl contender. No doubt, the rumor exploded in the NFL world, and the Eagles quickly became a fascinating guess for his next spot.
As the speculations began growing around, NFL insider Jason La Canfora wasn’t the one taking a backseat. He quickly fired up his X account with a tweet that read, “Howie Roseman has built a monster. Can’t wait to see what it looks like with Myles Garrett in 2025.” If the Eagles plan on pairing Garrett with the likes of Jalen Carter, and Jordan Davis. It will definitely be an absolute nightmare for all the opposing offenses.

Amon-Ra St. Brown on Eagles’ season opener match
As discussions go on about the season opener, the real question remains, will the Eagles face the Lions or Browns in Week 1 of season 2025? Two teams, Detroit, and Cleveland stand out as possible matchups for the Eagles. Amon-Ra St. Brown didn’t hold back from reminding everyone about the Lions’ 2024 season. On his “St. Brown Podcast,” the WR mentioned that Detroit is a strong contender to face Philadelphia, putting it on the table that his team was ready to wreak some havoc.
Brown mentioned on his podcast how the Lions were put off by injuries in 2024. And that it was a huge roadblock in their journey that cost them a difficult playoff run. There was a time when the Detroit Lions had 13 defensive players out, yeah, still unbelievable! The WR also claimed that a healthy Lions squad would be completely different. He stated, “You would see with our healthy defense how that operates.” The Lions take it as they have been wronged, and are coming for revenge.
While Garrett joining the Eagles is controversial, there’s another twist. That is, could the Lions be a wildcard entry for him? At the recent NFL Honors event, Garrett was spotted chatting with Lions stars Aidan Hutchinson and Jared Goff. Is Detroit planning behind the scenes to make a move for him? If so, a Lions-Eagles season opener would become even more of a marquee matchup.
