The Baltimore Ravens have found themselves in a precarious position going into the third week of the regular season. After losing their first game against the Chiefs by just a toe, the Ravens thought they could restart their season in Baltimore. But things aren’t going exactly as planned for Lamar Jackson and Co. as they suffered a shocking loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

This would be the first time since 2015 that the Ravens have been going into the third week with a 0-2 record on their backs. Although the Ravens are currently leading the league in terms of 417.5 yards per game. Broncos legend Mark Schlereth questioned the team’s commitment to John Harbaugh’s coaching, “As players, you are not down on each other right, but you are down with the coaching staff, or you are down with the way they are calling their offense.”

While pointing out the possible flaws in the Ravens’ offensive line, Schlereth ensured he brought back last year’s AFC championship match against the Chiefs, “This goes back to the AFC championship last year, where they just flat-out refused to run the football.” Well, it might be a great reference to the out-of-sync offense in Baltimore. As Ravens head coach John Harbaugh had similar thoughts on their loss to the Chiefs last season.

Having mustered just 6 carries in an AFC championship match, Harbaugh stated, “That’s not the number you want to have. When it’s all said and done and you look back on it, that’s not really going to win us an AFC championship game, for sure. It’s more than just calling plays.” But surprisingly, in the first game itself, Lamar Jackson racked up 16 carries, which poses a question about Harbaugh’s coaching methods.

Rightfully called out by the Broncos legend, “I would be mad at the coaching staff like. This is what I do best, and let me be in this, and it opens more play-action stuff.” Although this might improve their play action in the next few games, will this be enough to stage a comeback this season? As the new offensive line didn’t perform to its expectations, with Derrick Henry on the front.

Baltimore Ravens offensive holes after just two games into the season

When Derrick Henry was added to the Ravens’ offense, they thought their running game would improve this season. However, Harbaugh’s use of Henry has been put into question after their offense failed to impress in Baltimore. As criticized by former Ravens defensive coordinator, “What do the Ravens need to do? Close games out in the fourth quarter. This guy’s the best closer in the business, so give him the football.”

Well, the former offensive player of the Year found his best time on the field in the closing stages last Sunday. His six carries for 38 yards and a TD helped Baltimore race to a 10-point lead with 12:11 remaining on the night. But Henry didn’t find himself involved after that, as the Ravens surrendered a double-digit lead to lose against the Raiders 26-23. Throughout his NFL career, the All-Pro has found himself mostly involved in the latter stages.

Having averaged 4.8 yards per carry and scoring 46 touchdowns in the second half, his lack of involvement led many to question John Harbaugh’s coaching. With the Ravens looking to turn around their losing start to the season, will Harbaugh figure out how to get Henry more involved next time vs Dallas? Or will it be the same problems on their offense against the Cowboys who are looking to get back into winning foot after their embarrassing loss to the Saints?
