The past few games of the season saw some dramatic hits that could leave everyone wondering. First, it was Kareem Jackson of the Denver Broncos, now it’s Jake Camarda of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It appears the losing teams are also losing control of the situation.

The latest Thursday night football game between the Bucs and the Buffalo Bills featured a wild scene between the two teams. This scene saw Camarda and Greg Rousseau involved in an ugly situation and an unexpected hit. As a result, despite the Bills’ 24-18 victory over the Buccaneers in the matchup, Bills fans found themselves infuriated about the referees’ decision.

Representing Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the second time, the punter Jake Camarda has become one of the best punters in the league this season. He has recorded the NFL’s longest punt of 74 yards, and best yards per punt average at 52.9. However, a blocked road could be attached to his career, if his recent action is viewed again with a suspension lens. During the last matchup with the Bills, Tampa Bay punter Camarda swung his helmet, hitting Bills’ defensive end, Greg Rousseau.

With just 7:40 left in the second quarter before halftime, Camarda helped the kicker Chase McLaughlin in making a long 57-yard field goal. This banged it through the uprights, leading the Bills to secure a favorable 10-3 score. However, despite this fallout, the cameras on the field panned towards the ongoing clash between the two teams at the line of scrimmage. As the refs tried to break up the fight, Camarda took off his helmet and hit Rousseau hard on his head. Then the refs tried to clear the air off, without giving any penalty to Camarda.

Hitting each other or tossing the helmets has never been appreciated by the league. Remember the case of Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett who hit Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph with his helmet in 2019? Due to this, Garrett had to undergo six suspensions in that season. Once again, a similar kind of thing happened in Sunday’s game.

During Sunday night football against the Green Bay Packers, the Broncos safety Kareem Jackson came running to give a forceful blow to Packers tight end Luke Musgrave’s neck area with his head, while Musgrave was going for a touchdown after a pass catch. His illegal hit led to his disqualification from the game, and he received a four-game suspension for the season. However, most recently, the NFL and NFLPA committee reduced his ban from four to two games after he pleaded his case.

Conversely, Jake Camarda’s recent unexpected hit was overlooked, and he hasn’t received any suspension or fine so far. Hence, Bills fans are waiting for any action by the refs and the league toward Camarda, after viewing Jackson’s case.
