Brock Purdy’s exceptional performance on the last drive propelled the San Francisco 49ers to a remarkable victory! Following the incredible 24-21 victory over the Packers, the 49ers have earned their way to the NFC championship next week. Furthermore, Brock Purdy’s significant move in the final six minutes cemented his legacy. As the team prepares for the next step, Mr. Irrelevant shares his perspective on the game-winning drive that led to their victory.

During the fourth quarter, Purdy orchestrated a crucial touchdown drive that helped the San Francisco 49ers clinch the wild card berth. However, the star quarterback credited this significant move to his teammates and considered its importance for locking their NFC divisional spots.

In a recent post-game interview, the interviewer asked Purdy about his true feelings regarding the game and especially about his last drive move in the fourth quarter. The interviewer said, “That final drive was your best one of the night. Why? What was the difference, Brock, man? Then Brock shed light on the importance of team effort as he said, “It’s a team effort, you know; the defense is making their stops, and we’re like, man, we got to do something. And myself like to calm down. Go through your reads, take what they give you, and assemble a drive when the season was on the line.

The reporter also inquired with the quarterback about the challenges the 49ers experienced initially, specifically highlighting whether it was because of the weather or the Packers’ defense. Then Purdy responded cleverly,” Yeah, the weather, but that’s football, man. You have to overcome that. That was early on. But after a while, I feel like I got to get into the rhythm.” The weather was not in his favor at Levi’s Stadium; it was raining, and Purdy found it challenging to grip the ball as he discussed the incorrect move he made because of wet grass, making the ball feel wet.

Interestingly, the quarterback returned to his form when the squad needed the most. With 6:18 left and the ball at the 31, the squad turned the situation around with an impressive move as they drove 69 yards in 12 plays, and RB Christian McCaffrey rushed up the middle for a 6-yard touchdown. Purdy completed 6 of 7 passes for 47 yards on the final drive, and tight end George Kittle dropped the ball. Purdy also rushed twice for 11 yards for a first down and McCaffrey’s touchdown. This has earned the respect of his coach.

Kyle Shanahan couldn’t be more proud of his team

In the post-game conference, the 49ers head coach Shanahan said, “Brock, he made big plays in the game.” He further emphasized that the quarterback might have missed a couple of plays early in the game amid his apparent discomfort in rainy conditions. He admitted that his last drive was the reason behind the team’s win.

Apart from Purdy, the other player who contributed to this stunning win was Dre Greenlaw, who played an integral role in controlling the team’s defenses. Furthermore, Jake Moody played a significant role when he kicked a 52-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Shanahan accepted that the Packers were a “tough team”. He added, “I thought that was as big of a mental challenge, just a character game, as any game I’ve been a part of.” Yes, there were some roadblocks – offense, defense, special teams, the rain, guys slipping, losing Deebo early, and making last moment changes – it was indeed a gut check for the 49ers. There is every reason why the head coach “couldn’t be more proud of the people in there and how they persevered.”
