The 49ers will be ending this season as the last team in the NFC West division. That hurts even more when injuries become the major factor in a team’s loss. And the most terrible thing was their QB’s severe injury. Brock Purdy‘s elbow injury in the game against the Detroit Lions was a big hit for the 49ers. An NFL insider’s report indicates – Purdy and the 49ers are up for complicated roads.

NFL insider Albert Breer has revealed the implications of Purdy’s injury in his ‘The Breer Report’ podcast. Breer was actually concerned about the contract Brock Purdy would miss with this severe elbow hit. Breer basically illustrated, “Obviously if it’s not a serious thing then you go back to where you were before the game um just as far as where his contract is if uh if this is a more serious issue obviously then this gets more complicated.” That could be concerning.

You guys are aware of how much money the 49ers invest in not just the QBs but also in RBs and WRs. The 49ers will have a $300 million cap next year? Yeah, that’s right! So, as Breer also mentioned, Brock Purdy’s injury can hamper the 49ers’ plans for picking up the QB for the 2025 season and also for the longer run. If the franchise wants the jersey no.13 and he’s not eligible for that from a fitness perspective, it’s definitely gonna make Jed York‘s job difficult. Currently, Brock has a $3,737,008 rookie contract with the franchise. And as Breer also pointed out, if he wants to sign a big contract with York next year, then the repercussions of that injury against the Lions could become a major issue.

As per the head coach’s update, Purdy suffered a right elbow contusion with nerve inflammation. Is that a severe injury? The franchise has said they will examine it further. However, there was no clear statement on severity. Albert Breer explained that if there is an inflammation in nerve things and stuff, it is bad news for the QB and the franchise. And as the San Francisco may look forward to signing a big contract with Purdy, it’s a serious talk then.

On December 31, Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, talked about how the injuries have shattered the 49ers’ dream to some extent. The 45-year-old owner seemed upset about injuries to star running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk

As these questions are up in the air, there is one more thing 49ers fans wanna know. And you know what that is? Yeah, Kyle Shanahan’s career with the franchise after this season.

Kyle Shanahan to stay with the 49ers?

What’s your perspective on:

Will Brock Purdy's injury derail the 49ers' future plans, or can they bounce back stronger?

Have an interesting take?

The 49ers owner Jed York had an informal conversation with NFL reporter and friend Tim Kawakami. There he frankly discussed this question clearly and with confirmation. When the reporter asked the owner if fans would see the departure of HC Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch after this season, Jed York only said, “They’re not going anywhere.”
