From Brock Purdy’s earliest encounters with a football to the resounding cheers of a stadium filled with fans, his parents, Shawn and Carrie Purdy, have been unwavering supporters. Their journey alongside their son reached an emotional peak when Brock secured his first NFL win with the San Francisco 49ers in December 2022. That’s the time when Purdy’s dad went viral on the internet, as he broke into tears after seeing his son play for the Niners.

Now they’ll watch him play on the biggest stage in the world of football— the Super Bowl. Purdy’s journey has been through many ups and downs, but he has given his parents credit for supporting him throughout the entire journey. He talked about how he learned to pick himself up in the most dire straits from his parents.

He said, “Knowing that I’m loved by my parents has been huge for me. It sort of allows me to go and play, and know that they’ve always got my back. That’s been huge for me and so obviously their perspective of life, and how they’ve handled their life, I’ve looked up to that a lot.”

Furthermore, he revealed that his parents worked hard as much as he did, as they tried to find ways to support their quarterback son. The supportive nature of Purdy’s parents has been known to a lot of people for a long time, as even the Niners CEO Jed York is quite aware of it.

This was before the quarterback’s rookie season in 2022. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their son’s role, Purdy’s parents exhibited a deep commitment by actively engaging with the organization. During that pivotal meeting, they attentively absorbed every detail, underlining their dedication to understanding the team and taking notes about everything important.

He stated, “We have our opening event usually in preseason to have players’ families come in. I make sure every year to talk to them and give them a sense of who the 49ers are and sort of what the organization is. So I walk in, and it was upstairs in this building, and two people are sitting there writing down notes, like so intent on what’s going on and I’m like ‘whose parents are those?’ and (I’m told) ‘oh those are Brock Purdy’s parents.”

So, even at that time, his parents weren’t resting, as they were doing everything necessary to make their son’s dream come true!
