Let’s take you back to Christmas Day. Christian McCaffrey had gifted Brock Purdy and the entire offensive gang expensive gifts. What did it include? A PXG golf bag, a bottle of tequila, and a coupon for a custom fitting for a new set of clubs. How much did it set him back? A whopping $140,000, at least.
When Purdy was asked about the gift, his sheepish answer revealed his financial status. “Financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now.” So, despite being a quarterback, does he earn less than CMC?
How much does the duo make from the NFL?

The rise of Purdy is a fairy tale. The QB picked last in the Draft is called “Mr. Irrelevant.” Purdy was given that title. But look at him now. He’s led his team to the NFC Championship game. And it doesn’t stop there. He’s also an NFL MVP frontrunner. But being picked last means an abysmally low salary. He had signed a 4-year contract worth $3.73 million. That included a $77k signing bonus and the same amount in guaranteed money. After you do all the required calculations, his average salary comes out to be $934,000. And his net worth is a paltry $300k. That’s peanuts for a QB of his stature!
What about CMC? Now, he’s on the other extreme. He’s worth $30 million and is the league’s highest-paid running back. And his salary justifies his skills. He was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 but renegotiated his contract in 2023. The 27-year-old will earn $11.8 million in 2024 and $12 million in 2025! What CMC will earn in just two years, it’ll take Purdy almost 15 years to make!
But thankfully for him, his skills on the gridiron have made him a very marketable player.
How much do the two earn from brand deals?
We don’t really have the exact numbers for this. NFL players are not compelled to reveal data about their brand deals. However, we know that Purdy has signed several brand deals. Among them is Toyota. Purdy was the face of the “Tackle Anything” ad campaign. Other than that, he is very much in demand! He has partnered with brands like Alaska Airlines and Buffalo Wild Wings.

We’ll let you in on a secret. You’ll be rewarded if you’re from the Bay Area and travel by Alaska Airlines wearing Purdy’s jersey. With what? Priority boarding all throughout the NFL season! If he becomes the MVP this season, brands will try to outbid each other to acquire him as their face.

CMC, on the other hand, has many more partnerships in his portfolio. He’s likely the RB with the most advertisement features. His brand deals include Nerf, Lowe’s, Nike, Bose, and USAA. Three days prior, he also signed an agreement with tech retailer Brookstone. Now, he’s also in the running for the MVP title. Could the two teammates win the title together?
