Double glory! On one side Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs are winning their games. On the other, Mahomes’ co-ownership team is also celebrating a massive achievement. And Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes too, isn’t stepping back from this fervent.
The NWSL is underway! Patrick & Brittany Mahomes’s team, KC Current team sits in fourth rank this season with 55 points. They even won a match on Sunday against Chicago with 3-1. But that’s not all about the celebration. There’s something more for Kansas City out there!
As posted by KC Current on their official Instagram account, their champ, Malawian footballer Temwa Chawinga got the “Golden Boot” title for scoring 20 goals and 6 assists. So, this means, she now sits at rank 1 in the stat leaders board of the goal scorers category. Hence, to celebrate this massive achievement, KC Current dedicated a post to her on IG with the caption: “GREATNESS. IS. GOLDEN. 👑 20 goals. 6 assists. @nwsl debut season. Your 2024 Golden Boot winner, @temwa556 (stars emoji).”

Proud Brittany Mahomes, who is the team’s current co-owner also motivated Chawinga with a two-word message. She wrote, “LET’S GOOOOO,” tagging the soccer athlete in the comment section of the post. Brittany and Patrick Mahomes joined the NWSL’s KC Current ownership group in January 2023. And since then, they have been working together for the team’s benefit and facilities.

Patrick Mahomes is facing a bidding war with a basketball player?
In May 2023, power forward Jayson Tatum joined the co-ownership with NFL star Drew Brees for Los Angeles Mad Drops, a pickleball team. Now, once again he is on the verge of investing in a team. Which team? Well, it’s the 16th WNBA team. Yes! In April this year, it was hinted that the WNBA is expanding itself soon – probably by 2028. Currently, the league has only 12 teams. Hence, according to Sportico’s Jacob Feldman, “Tatum has informally agreed to invest in the team should it come to fruition.” But here comes the twist!
What’s your perspective on:
Will Patrick Mahomes outbid Jayson Tatum for WNBA ownership, or is this a losing battle?
Have an interesting take?
For this to happen, the athlete might “need to outbid others,” which means he could face a clash with Patrick Mahomes & Brittany Mahomes’ team – KC Current. As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “As WNBA expansion continues, ownership of the NWSL’s KC Current — which includes Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany — has met with the WNBA and is in contention to bring the league’s next franchise to Kansas City.” This means Chiefs QB Patrick and Brittany Mahomes are also in plans to invest in a WNBA team.
