Well, Giants fans, it’s official: Rock Bottom has a basement. After a 30-7 blowout at the hands of the Bucs, it’s clear the Big Blue has entered the “anything-can-happen” stage of the season—and not in a fun way. Tommy DeVito, the undrafted rookie QB, got tossed around like a tackling dummy, eating three sacks and struggling to keep the offense moving. And yet, head coach Brian Daboll isn’t ready to throw in the towel on his young signal-caller. Hopeful or stubborn? You decide.

Daboll didn’t mince words when asked about DeVito’s future under center. “I anticipate Tommy DeVito starting again,” he said, adding that he’s hopeful the rookie will be ready to go against the Cowboys. DeVito himself seems game, reportedly telling teammates he’s good to go.

But let’s be honest, rolling with DeVito feels less like a strategy and more like a prayer. Can he rise to the occasion against a fierce Cowboys defense, or are we in for another long night of DeVito running for his life… The latter seems to be the highly likely case.

And while we’re at it, what’s going on with Malik Nabers? Daboll addressed the sideline spat with the rookie wideout, calling him “a very competitive individual.” Translation: the guy just wants the pigskin. Can you blame him? Daboll even admitted, “I’ve got to do a better job of getting the [football] in his hands early.

At least someone’s acknowledging the need to shake things up. But the question remains: can Daboll and his squad figure it out before it’s too late? I mean, it’s already quite late. We can say, it’s another chapter in the Giants’ season of chaos. Closed… Almost. As for DeVito? It’s a case of shame saving. How much can he contribute to that?

Is Daboll's faith in DeVito a sign of hope or just plain desperation for the Giants?

Have an interesting take?

It’s tough being the new guy under center, especially for a team sitting at 2-9. Tommy DeVito showed guts by stepping up for the Giants against Tampa. Alas, he came out battered, blitzed, and even trolled by Baker Mayfield (when the Bucs QB copied Tommy Cutlets’ celebration to take the p-ss). The Bucs took no prisoners, jumping to a 23-0 halftime lead and making DeVito’s life miserable.

Sure, he threw for 189 yards and led a late touchdown drive, but let’s be real—this game was already in the books by then. Not exactly the spark Big Blue fans were hoping for. And 4 snaps? Yikes! I mean, we can only hope he didn’t get bruised.

With Tampa dialing up blitzes like it was a Madden game set to “All-Madden.” DeVito got knocked around so much that he literally had the wind taken out of him at one point. But give him credit—he’s not letting the tough start mess with his mindset. “When it’s good, it’s great, when it’s bad, it’s bad,” he said post-game, adding he’s focused on staying level-headed and ready for Dallas on Thanksgiving.

At least, the constant snaps did not make him delusional. He knows there’s work to do. “We don’t practice like we’re 2-9,” he said. But that’s what it looked like on the gridiron. So, let’s just say, practice isn’t the problem; it’s turning that effort into results on game day. Now, it’s a short week into the Cowboys game, next. Six more to go, Big Blue. That’s all left to do, countdown till the season ends.
