The NFL world is still coming to terms with the firing of the Las Vegas Raiders’ former coach Josh McDaniels. The 47-year-old became the first high-profile casualty after a poor showing in the ongoing NFL 2023 season, along with General Manager Dave Ziegler. Mark Davis, the Raiders owner, made the announcement on Wednesday, thus sending shockwaves in the Football League.
As expected, there was quite a bit of reaction from the NFL fraternity, and leading the charge were Saints QB Derek Carr and New England Patriots QB Mac Jones. Both Carr and Jones have played under McDaniels and expressed empathy towards the former coach and wish him well. Their comments have been circulating online, creating a stir on the internet.

“I’ve been through it, and this business is so tough that we forget the human side of things. So, my heart is for Josh and Dave and with my friends over there dealing with another change. As they know, and I’ve told them, I wish them the absolute best. So, to see that it’s hard. It breaks your heart for their families,” Derek Carr said while speaking to reporters.
Josh McDaniels was the first offensive coordinator for the Patriots, a team that Jones represents in the NFL. Like Carr, the current Patriots QB also wished the 47-year-old well during this tough time.

McDaniels’ rocky record during his time with the Raiders
Even though Josh McDaniels was once the architect behind the Patriots’ six Super Bowl wins, the celebrated HC disappointed everyone after that. Recently, he was facing scrutiny over his spotty coaching tenure.
Despite the Raiders boasting talents like Davante Adams and top rusher Josh Jacobs, the team’s performance has been underwhelming so far. They are moving forward with a precarious 3-4 record as they approach their next game. For now, the Raiders are leaning more towards the losing side.
