Brandon Aubrey had a bit of an oopsy during the Cowboys’ season-finale against the Commanders. Just after drilling a 41-yard field goal to give the Cowboys a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, Aubrey’s task didn’t end there. He had to go back out again and handle a kickoff. But this time, his aim was a little off. Trying to hit a low line drive, Audrey’s kick went sideways and ended up hitting a Cowboys cheerleader on her head.

Yes, the Cowboys’ placekicker’s effort didn’t just go out of bounds. It landed straight on rookie dancer Michelle Siemienowski’s scalp, and she immediately collapsed on the floor. Now, Michelle didn’t really have the chance to step out of the way. She and her DCC group from San Diego were just finishing up their dance routine while facing the crowd. But the rookie took that direct hit to her head like a champ. As she wiped away her tears and stayed on the sidelines for a while.

When Audrey learned that his kickoff had struck Michelle, he immediately wanted to apologize in the second half. However, as Michelle shared in her story, her group continued to rotate, thereby making it difficult for Audrey to find her, “I was told he wanted to come find me on the field after incident. But unfortunately, I kept moving around the field.” So, in order to apologize, Brandon ended up leaving a note for Michelle postgame, “Michelle, so sorry about hitting you on KO! Hope you are doing well! Love watching y’all.”

Judging by Audrey’s words and effort to instantly apologize showed how true of a gentleman he is. Upon receiving the Cowboys kicker’s apology, Michelle was almost over the moon as she wrote in her story, “No hard feelings here! And now I have a souvenir for the last game of my rookie season.” Well, the Cowboys rookie cheerleader didn’t just end her thoughts by accepting the apology. She also congratulated the 29-year-old for breaking the Cowboys franchise record, “Congrats on breaking a franchise record.”

Despite one of his kicks going off target, Brandon Aubrey made history with his field goals in a Cowboys losing season.

Brandon Aubrey enters NFL record books with his pinpoint accuracy

Two-time Pro Bowler Brandon Aubrey, nicknamed the “Butter” for his smooth kicking style, has yet again proved his worth to Dallas. Even after missing seven of his field goals and injuring his fellow cheerleader, Audrey has broken another record with his kicks. Those 40 field goals he ended the season with made him just the fifth kicker in NFL history to achieve that monumental feat.

Seeing the 29-year-old forge his name in the NFL record books, the Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel expressed what an incredible talent Audrey is, “I keep saying. I think he’s proven himself, I think he’s damn good. I think he’s the very best in the league. Which is crazy to say that just entering the finish of the second year in the league…I don’t know how else to say it..Proud of him. He’s really good man.” Audrey has, time and time again, showed whatever the range is, he can deliver.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Brandon Aubrey's record-breaking season enough to overshadow his cheerleader mishap?

Have an interesting take?

Going back to week 15 against the Panthers, Brandon tried to score a 70-yard field goal. Although he missed his target, the Cowboys kicker did score a 65-yarder back in week 3 against Baltimore. His 65-yard field goal was the longest in the Cowboys’ entire history and also the second-farthest in the NFL. Seeing what he achieved this season, we can safely say Audrey was only one of the few shining lights in the Cowboys’ darkness-filled season. And by next season, more of the same will be expected of the Cowboys record-breaking kicker.
