Is Brandon Aiyuk's move to the Commanders a betrayal to the 49ers or a smart career move?

It’s become increasingly harder with each passing day to manage Brandon Aiyuk and his shenanigans. In the wake of the 49ers not giving him an extension, the WR has found himself in touch with his younger days as he hangs out with Jayden Daniels lately. It went from Aiyuk saying “they don’t want me back,” to him trying to give the Commanders’ Playbook a shot.

The WR took it to TikTok and uploaded a photo dump of all sorts. Just going through the photos made it pretty clear what those people and places mean to the San Francisco 49ers WR. In the carousel of photos was an Easter Egg. But what stood out in the photo was Aiyuk watching the Washington Commanders tape. So, what does the future hold for the 49ers and their WR?

An MLFootball contributor named Brandon also shared the post on X and it got a lot of impressions. The video looks like it’s something exclusive to the Commanders and is not easily accessible to people. But, maybe with the help of Jayden Daniels, Aiyuk is already getting himself up to speed.

There’s one more thing. In the carousel of photos, we can see a Heisman Trophy. The thing is Aiyuk doesn’t have a Heisman Trophy. So perhaps, it’s Jayden Daniels’. The point is, that Aiyuk is becoming more comfortable with the idea of playing with his friend on a daily basis. Occasionally, a photo with a cryptic meaning would show up in the post. Aiyuk and Daniels have been friends for a long time since their ASU days and it only makes sense for him to reunite with his old friend. However, sentiments don’t have any value when it comes to doing business and that logic is applicable to Aiyuk as well.

But all of this might be unsettling for Kyle Shanahan due to obvious reasons. On the surface, he appears like he can trade any player as long as the money sounds right, but on the inside, he might not want to lose a receiver with such a high caliber. But there’s just one problem. Aiyuk’s relationship with Shanahan isn’t really inspiring, but on the contrary, he and Deebo Samuel might even be friends. So, here’s one roadblock that both Aiyuk and Shanahan can’t seem to shake.

“We have a great relationship with Deebo,” Shanahan said. “I haven’t seen him a lot since the season ended. I think it’s a little bit easier when you’re dealing with people without screens and phones in front of you.”

Is Brandon Aiyuk's move to the Commanders a betrayal to the 49ers or a smart career move?

Have an interesting take?

Brandon Aiyuk wants to join the $30-$35 million club and the 49ers are not having it. The maximum that the Niners are rumored to offer him is about $21-$26 million on a franchise tag. It’s also not clear what kind of franchise tag he gets or whether there would be a no-trade clause included. This year, he’s making $14.1 million in base salary.

Rumor mills are working tirelessly right now because according to some of those rumors, the Steelers, the Bills, the Chargers, and obviously the Commanders might be willing to hire this quality wideout. But while the WR hasn’t failed to gain a spotlight even once, Tom Pelissero thinks that most people are reaching and that there’s no real implication of those posts.

Tom Pelissero corrects the narrative about Brandon Aiyuk

When Aiyuk uploaded that TikTok where he was seen talking to Jayden Daniels, “they don’t want me back,” became a catchphrase pretty quickly. The data and circumstances point towards a trade that should happen next year. But for Tom Pelissero, this narrative is too far from the truth.

“Brandon Aiyuk asked the 49ers for a meeting which took place I believe it was on Monday…. They had a good meeting. Aiyuk has not requested a trade, he never did,” said the NFL Insider on The Rich Eisen Show. Now, you would think that this is the end of the trade saga, but no. Aiyuk had more to say in his recent visit to The Pivot Podcast.

There’s only one question occupying everyone’s mind right now. What would Brandon Aiyuk do if the 49ers don’t pay him? To those people, the 49ers WR would say, “S**t, there’s a quarterback [Jayden Daniels] right there. I’m thinking on what I can do with him.” He namedropped Daniels, who was sitting in the room along with the Pivot Podcast crew not knowing what hit him.

There are speculations that Aiyuk might NOT get paid like the way Justin Jefferson got paid. It’s very old news but, there were rumors on the social media street saying Brandon Aiyuk unfollowed the San Francisco 49ers. Upon doing the due diligence, those rumors stood out to be true because the WR doesn’t follow his team on Instagram. Also, what team will hire Brandon Aiyuk knowing about his tendency to not hide anything on social media?
