“He’s extremely intelligent, really smart.” Denver Broncos’ Head coach, Sean Payton, said about Bo Nix. And to be praised so highly before the debut, you have to be someone special. This was a decision that the Broncos had to get right. And so far, their decision seems to be correct. Bo Nix was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Nix began his college career at Auburn in 2019, where he made an immediate impact by leading the team to a 9-4 record and earning the SEC Freshman of the Year award. Following this, he joined Oregan University in 2022.
Bo gained a reputation for his dual capabilities on the field. The 6-foot-2 quarterback was third in the Heisman trophy race in 2023. He got an $18.6 million contract from the Broncos. Nix followed in his father’s footsteps, who played as a quarterback at Auburn University. But he isn’t the only one. He has two brothers who are also treading the same path. Let’s know a bit more about the QB’s brothers.

The QB has two brothers: a brother named Caleb, and an adopted brother named Tez. Just like their brother, Caleb and Tez also dream of playing in the NFL someday. His younger brother, Caleb Nix, played as a quarterback for his high school. Currently, he plays as a safety for the Clemson Tigers football team at Clemson University.

Like Bo, Caleb has already made his presence felt on the football field as a freshman. He actively supports his brother and dreams of accomplishing what his elder brother did. The draft day video put up by Bo, shows ecstatic Caleb in the background and excited Tez, on his left, banging on the table.

Tez’s family never went through the legal process of adopting him, but then again, they don’t believe he needs to be. The story of Bo’s adopted brother Tez is interesting, to say the least. He was born and brought up in Pinson, Alabama. Growing up, Tez saw everything that a young kid shouldn’t: from shootings to murders, he saw everything. In an interview with Pac-12, he said, “It was a struggle coming up, we didn’t have beds at one point and didn’t know where the next meal was coming from. Growing up in a crazy environment, you just see violence every day. You see shootings every day. It was just so depressing as a little kid. I never went home, and I was always in trouble.” The interview with Pac-12 highlights the hardships of Tez’s life and how the Nixes became his family.
Tez Johnson attended Pinson Valley High School, where he played football alongside the Bo under Bo’s father, Patrick Nix. Unlike Bo’s wide frame and tall height, Tez was just a scrawny little kid with an average height of 5 feet 10 inches. Seeing his condition, Patrick decided to bring the scrawny kid home. Initially, Johnson came for a few days and, as fate would have it, those few days turned into homecoming. Currently, Tez is playing for the University of Oregon. It was a dream come true for him. For a brief period, he played along with his adopted brother. The number 10 QB and the number 15 wide receiver were an unstoppable duo. Tez is extremely proud of his brother and was totally over the moon when Bo got drafted in the 1st round of the NFL draft.
The trio is unstoppable on the field with their hearts full of dreams. The three musketeers of Alabama might some day collide on the NFL gridiron. But will that change anything between them? Bet it won’t.
