The Denver Broncos are a quarterback-needy team and could do with someone like JJ McCarthy, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. Or perhaps, they can think about going out of the box and adding Bo Nix to the team in orange. Like many NFL analysts and broadcasters, Colin Cowherd was ready with his picks for the upcoming draft, which might convince Sean Payton to reconsider things.

Cowherd was pretty bold with his assessment about what the Denver Broncos should do if they get a chance to choose a top 5 QB prospect. In this case, the suitable fit for Broncos, per Cowherd was the Oregon signal caller. Would Nix be able to fix the huge gap that Russell Wilson left in the Broncos’ offense?

Cowherd attributed some of Nix’s qualities that might qualify him to fit into Sean Payton’s scheme of things. The Broncos HC might get to experience nostalgia all over again. “I think Denver and Sean Payton, I think Bo Nix works for what they want to do. A lot of underneath stuff, stay on script, 61 college starts, 22 and five with Oregon. Is he going to move around a lot? No! There is some Drew Brees qualities, a lot of college starts, highly productive, very coachable, super accurate,” said Cowherd about Bo Nix.

The analyst also added by saying, “He is an excellent decision maker who at Oregon, mostly stayed on script, lower ceiling. But I think he works with Sean Payton. I think what Sean wants to create is a ball-control offense he souped up the offensive line last year. He’s got a running back he likes. I think Bo Nix is a fit.”

But apart from quarterbacks, the Denver team is also interested in drafting edge rushers and DBs. However, finding linemen and DBs is not as difficult as drafting a QB. And the Broncos have a couple of problems they have to deal with.

Currently, the Denver team has 8 picks in total, including the 12 overall pick. But to draft a QB, they need to be in the top 5, to say the least. To get there, the Broncos will have to dish out more picks than they would like. Also, the move will hamper their drafting chances in the next year if Nix goes bust.

Hence, Sean Payton and the Broncos are dealing with a slippery slope right now. However, they have to think about what’s in front of them now or worry about the future. Finding a balance would be a way to go.
