Is Jacoby Brissett's optimism enough to turn the Patriots' season around? What do you think?

The Patriots are having a revival. That’s why they brought Jacoby Brissett. He is (literally) leading from the front with 30 of 51 passes with 1 touchdown and 270 yards. Taking hits for the team, he took them to an upset victory over the Bengals but a close 20-23 loss against the Seahawks. The team is making adjustments before the TNF encounter against the Jets. He is not alone in the deep waters. One more person is on a mission. Head Coach Jerod Mayo isn’t letting anything come in the path to redemption.

The veteran quarterback was determined to win against the Seahawks. Even after taking a sack on his right knee and bumping his shoulder and hitting his ribs, he stayed on the field. But everyone was concerned about how much he could take. Speaking to reporters before practice on the 17th of September, his reply was cheeky: “Nah man, I am big enough I can take it. I’m a grown man. I can take a couple of hits.

That must have been on Mayo’s mind when he scheduled the practice for the evening at 6 pm. A former linebacker, he is infusing his philosophy in the locker room to save them from fatigue. Jacoby Brissett also agreed with the coach and mentioned, “Earlier, it was a kind of more rest on the front end than on the back end. I like it.” Usually, the team was in warmup by that time, but the coach gave a little more time to his players to rest.

This may be the right strategy. While players are accustomed to playing even with a gap of fewer days, the coach understands the bigger picture. The season is just taking off. They have more yards (600) than the Jets (531 yards) in the first 2 games of the season. But fewer touchdowns (3) than their rivals (6). The offense has been a headache for the Pats.

Jacoby Brissett wants to spread the wealth

The problem for the Pats has been their offense. Against the Seahawks, the WRs only had 3 catches for 19 yards. There’s a reason they are listed 29th in the league’s offensive teams ranking. But the veteran quarterback wants to change that. Before the practice, he said, “We want to get everybody involved. So I think the plan is to try to spread the wealth a little bit more.

Jacoby Brissett hasn’t been intercepted yet in the 2024 season. However, the scoreline would have become way more positive in their favor if they had improved their running game. Tight end Hunter Henry was the ‘man of the hour’ in week 2 game with 8 catches in 109 yards, his best so far in the league. The O-line has shown glimpses of being battle-ready. In both games, they managed more than 170 yards with zero turnovers and few penalties.
