Bills Mafia held their breaths when their star QB aggravated his already ailing shoulder during the Week 8 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. He had first hurt his throwing shoulder in the Week 6 win over the New York Giants. His shoulder injury has been a recurring theme this season for the 37-year-old. In the critical upcoming match against the Cincinnati Bengals, fans were worried if Josh Allen would be able to play at all.

Other than Allen, the Bills have other casualties who are sure to weaken the lineup against the Bengals on Sunday Night Football. The Bills are currently 5-3, while the Bengals are at 4-3. Buffalo is just below the Dolphins on the AFC East leaderboard, and while one victory won’t help them move upward, it will boost their morale to take on tougher rivals lined up for the upcoming weeks.

Good news: Bills fans can rest easy

Around the NFL took to X to share an update stating that Buffalo Bills HC Sean McDermott will most likely be playing in the Bengals game on Sunday Night Live. Earlier this week, when the QB showed up on the Bills’ injury report with a “DNP” status, it got fans worried. But the HC allayed all fears and told the media that he would indeed be good to go. Now the oracle’s words have come true.

Last year it was his elbow that was in pain in his neck. The elbow injury persisted throughout the second half of the 2022 season. So, naturally, fans were worried when he hurt his shoulder in two games this season. But Allen calmed fans by saying, “I don’t think it’s going to linger too much. But I think this was the best thing for me in making sure that. Just trying to stay ahead of it and not let this affect me long term.”

However, many of his teammates are not that lucky. Quite a few of them are nursing injuries that might cause them to be on sidelines for the Sunday game. And it has hit majorly the Buffalo defense.

Bills defense in danger of losing out on two key players

LB Baylon Spector and OLB A. J. Klein are nursing hamstring and back injuries respectively and skipped practice on Wednesday as well as Thursday. However, Safety Damar Halin, a key weapon of the Bills’ defense, seems to have recovered from his illness as he and TE Quintin Morris both participated fully on Thursday.

Josh Allen has recorded an NFL-high 71.7% of his passes for 2,165 yards, 17 TDs, and 8 interceptions so far this season. He is the Bills’ main offensive weapon. And now fans can finally rejoice that he will indeed be there to take on the mighty Joe Burrow. The Bengals looked similarly placed with 2 players who skipped practice on Thursday. The Bills take on the Bengals at 8:20 PM EST, on November 5 at Paycor Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio.
