Round after round went by, but the Bills didn’t draft a single top receiver for Josh Allen. It wasn’t until the 7th round, with their last pick, that the Bills finally selected a receiver in Maryland’s Kaden Prather. Each one of their previous picks was either a defensive lineman or a cornerback. Considering how defense has let them down in their quest to get past the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs time and time again, the Bills’ GM, Brandon Beane, couldn’t look past defensive reinforcements. But after his passionate rant, calling out the media, analysts, and the Bills Mafia, it looks like Beane doesn’t completely ignore his fans’ grievances, even though he wasn’t happy with them.
On Monday morning, just hours after Beane’s appearance on WGR550, Jordan Schultz reported that free agent receiver Elijah Moore is visiting One Bills Drive. Then, a couple of hours later, Beane also confirmed the news of Moore dropping in for a visit. The Bills’ GM also added that everything went well, but only time will tell whether Moore will be a Bill or not. Moore is the second consecutive Browns receiver Beane is looking to add to his offense. After trading for Amari Cooper, which obviously didn’t go well, Beane is making another gamble for a former Browns receiver.
As for Moore, he is a 4-year veteran with stints in New York and Cleveland. His first two seasons with the Jets saw him catch only 80 passes from 142 targets. Then, with the Browns, Moore hauled in 120 catches from 206 targets. His receiving yards also went up from 984 yards to 1,178 from his Jets tenure to the Browns. Moore may not be the wow receiver the Bills Mafia were hoping their GM would sign. But he can obviously be a great addition to the Bills’ receiver room.

With his ascending talent and ability to produce in different offensive schemes, Moore can keep defenses on their toes pretty easily. Now, coming into Buffalo’s offense, where Allen didn’t have a single receiver score past 900 receiving yards. Moore can be the game-changer the Bills always wanted but didn’t have. Not after their four-time consecutive Pro Bowler, Stefon Diggs, left Buffalo for Houston. Since his exit, Allen, who was supposed to struggle putting up crazy numbers, ended up winning his first league MVP without Diggs.

Josh Allen didn’t miss Stefon Diggs at all, as per Brandon Beane
After spending five okayish years in Minnesota, Diggs exploded with Allen as his QB. In his 4 seasons in Buffalo, Diggs never caught fewer than 100 receptions, nor did he run for fewer than 1000 receiving yards. Diggs and Allen’s pairing was a match made in heaven. So, once Diggs left Buffalo because of contract disputes. Many expected Allen’s production to take a hit, given that his Pro Bowl receiver left, however, after finishing two consecutive seasons as NFL MVP runners-up. Allen won his first league MVP after beating reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson in the playoffs.
Allen was simply out of this world last year, even without established wideouts. He finished eighth in passer rating, 14th in yards, and seventh in TD passes. He only turned the ball over a league-low eight times. While getting sacked just 14 times. So, when it came to delivering on the offense Allen didn’t miss Diggs at all. That’s what Beane wanted to point out, considering the criticism his team was getting for not recruiting enough wide receivers.

What’s your perspective on:
Did the Bills make a mistake by ignoring top receivers in the draft for Josh Allen?
Have an interesting take?
“You guys are b——- that we don’t have a receiver. I don’t get, like. We just scored 30 points in a row for eight straight games..When you add all the postseason, no one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including Super Bowl Champions. So, you just saw us do it without Stefon Diggs,” Beane said on an explosive rant to Jeremy and Joe of WRG550.
Right now, the only starting receivers the Bills have are Khalil Mack and Curtis Samuel. And on the reserves, they have K.J. Hamler and Tyrell Shavers. There’s also Keon Coleman, their last year’s first overall in round 2. So, there are quite a few names the Bills have added to their receiver room. Considering they also bring in Elijah Moore, it’s only going to make Josh Allen better. Given that they have already made huge strides in strengthening their defense. Only the sky is the limit for the Bills. And time will tell whether everything they did during the draft and offseason can help them in overcoming the Chiefs in the playoffs if they meet again.
