Bills’ Damar Hamlin Makes an Emotional Homecoming, but Not Everyone Is Impressed

Damar Hamlin, earlier this year became a household name but not for the reasons he or anyone would’ve wanted to. The Bills safety against the Bengals suffered a cardiac arrest at the Paycor Stadium. And now he is back in the same place, evoking emotions not only for himself but football fans around the world.

Even though the Bills failed to win the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, it was a special night for the team’s safety who didn’t even participate in the game. His nearly 15-minute gaze at the Bengals logo on the gridiron seemed to have evoked a memory of his nightmare experience there, drawing all eyes to the footballer’s emotional moment.

Damar Hamlin returns to the spot of his cardiac arrest

The Bills were visiting the Bengals in what was to be an emotional game for both sides. Hamlin was not expected to play as he has been a backup player this entire season, suiting up only once in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. But after the stadium was empty, the 25-year-old was seen spending some time alone at the exact spot where he fell on the ground in January.

Where Hamlin has highlighted being extremely thankful to be well and back in playing condition, multiple thoughts and memories must have rushed into his mind as he would have stared at the logo in the empty stadium. Hamlin stayed in a squat position for several minutes over the Bengals’ famous logo.

After dealing with his thoughts in the empty arena, he slowly got up, and with a longing gaze in his eyes, he moved away from the day. A turbulent moment for football lovers all over the world had come full circle at this moment. However, not many fans were impressed with his actions.

Hamlin’s actions didn’t tickle the hearts of the football fans

Everyone knows football fans are pretty hardcore and on this X post, many shared their feelings in a rather candid manner as usual. One fan called out the emotions behind the video of Damar Hamlin and classified it to be over the top.  

This sentiment was championed by another NFL fan who addressed the footballer dragging on the ‘story’ to an unwanted zone, replying:

One spectator even accused Hamlin of gaining unwarranted attention from the incident, resonating the feelings of others commenting on the post. He remarked:

Amidst all the harsh words coming his way, there were a few fans who extended support to the footballer. One among them specifically mentioned the difficult situation the 25-year-old had suffered, asking everyone to tone down their judgment toward the star.
