Is Jerry Jones right to warn CeeDee Lamb about his $136 million? How should Lamb handle it?

Jerry Jones gave into CeeDee Lamb’s demands after the receiver held out from practice for months. However, this 4-year $136 million deal comes with a piece of caution. You see, the Cowboys owner has paid his receiver but doesn’t want him to splurge it on flashy things and urged him to make the right calls in the future.

After the deal was done, Lamb sat with the billionaire owner and had a “businessman chat” with him. Jon Machota, The Athletic journalist shared an excerpt of the conversation that Lamb and Jerry Jones had amongst each other. The post on X was heartwarming, to say the least in the sense that Jones cares so much about his players.

“You’re gonna be dealing with huge amounts of money. Be careful. Be careful. Look under the hood. Give it a lot of consideration as you make decisions regarding what you have as far as keeping it. You don’t have to be smart to make money,” Machota reported Jerry Jones saying.

Jones further said, “You can be very talented. You can be very driven. You do not have to be smart to make money. But you have to be real smart to keep it. Very smart. Any way that I can help a player in any way keep it, put me in coach.”

The 4-year $136 million deal entails a huge signing bonus of $38 million (a record figure for WRs) with $100 million in guaranteed money. This deal has made Lamb the second highest-paid receiver in the league with $34 million in average annual salary. Now, Lamb is ready to play ball.

“We had a businessman conversation,” CeeDee Lamb said. “Just had to clear the room. Everything is behind us. I’m not worried about nothing. We got what we needed to get done. Now, it’s time for me to go ball.”

While Lamb has been out of sight for a while now, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t doing the work to prepare himself for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Jerry Jones has been helping him with some of that preparation.

The Dallas Cowboys have been trying new things with their offense in the training camp. While Lamb wasn’t there to practice, he’s still aware of the latest offense installed in the Dallas Cowboys system. He kept up with the changes in the offense by studying the practice films on his iPad at home. He’s also been in touch with his teammates during the whole ordeal.

But that’s not the only thing he worked on this off-season. Apparently, Lamb has put on some weight to be sturdier on the field, per Todd Archer of ESPN. How much weight? Well, 15 pounds to be exact. That might be because he wants to be more physical this season. If Lamb has put on some weight, it might be challenging for the defense to be able to stop him.

“I’ve got some body armor on me,” Lamb said. “I can take a couple of more hits. I’m prepared for my opportunities.” Now the Cowboys WR1 is waiting on Jerry Jones and his team to pay his quarterback Dak Prescott so that everyone is happy. In the last season, Lamb and Prescott led the league in passing touchdowns, something Lamb wishes to achieve once again.

Lamb thinks Jerry Jones will pay Dak Prescott soon enough because the team needs him. Do you see Dak Prescott getting paid soon enough? Let us know below.
