Like everyone else, it has also caught former

Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson off guard. The 81-year-old, who himself has been a college football coach, said, “Don’t you think it’s strange the greatest coach in NFL history is not in the league?” Belichick’s latest move has created a frenzy in the NFL world. People were hoping he would make a comeback to the NFL after a year away from the field, but it looks like the 72-year-old has decided to walk down a new path.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Bill Belichick's move to UNC a step down or a strategic masterstroke for his legacy?

Is it truly the NFL’s loss to let the six-time champion coach walk away like that?

“Well, he was available last year. Nobody offered a job,” added Jimmy Johnson. This has got NFL fans debating like crazy. The news must have been a shocker to former Patriots players Tom Brady and Julian Edelman too, after they admitted that their coach would never end up in college football.

But now that Belichick is there, he has made it clear that he’s going to stay. The 72-year-old said in a conference after the UNC decision that he is not going to leave. Well, it will be interesting to see what Bill does with the

Tar Heels. While the kids at Tar Heels must be excited to meet their new head coach and get trained under him, the New York Jets must be feeling devastated as their ‘might-be-best’ option slips out of their hands.

Bill Belichick turns his back on the NFL

Back when this year started, everybody thought Bill Belichick was going to be back with another team. He was in talks with the Falcons for the head coach position, but lost the gig to Raheem Morris. After that, Bill was unemployed for around a year. We can understand how tough it would be for him to stay away from football for that long. And he did what most people do, not waiting and trying his luck somewhere else.

Jimmy Johnson on ‘NFL ON FOX‘ added that there was no guarantee the NFL would have offered the former Patriots HC a job, and that Bill loves to coach, so he is going to be at UNC for a long time. Now, of all the coaches I’ve ever known, he loves coaching football. He loves putting together an organization and a team. And North Carolina gave him that opportunity. You know, he’s able to bring his people in, very little interference. And then top of that, I think he’s happy doing it. He’s going to be there for a long time.”

Bill Belichick might be happy signing a whopping fifty-million-dollar contract with UNC for five years, but the Jets might not be. The team had a rough season this year and were looking for a head coach after firing Robert Saleh. For now, Jeff Ulbrich has been serving as the interim HC. But there are also rumors that Woody Johnson‘s team was pursuing Belichick for the position. Now, whether the NFL turned its back on Belichick, or he turned his back on the NFL, only they could tell. For now, we’re just interested to see what the 72-year-old has planned ahead for the Tar Heels.
