Blank said, “Decisions like this are never easy and they never feel good.” What irked the team was that Smith’s record remained at 7-10 for all three years, and this year they had more expectations from him that weren’t fulfilled.

Bill Belichick or Jim Harbaugh: Who will wear the Falcons’ jersey?

As per many, the two significant prospects for the position of HC, after Arthur Smith, are Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh. Atlanta’s offense struggled under coach Smith, who seemed hesitant to rely on key players like Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts. This reluctance might have led to a loss of confidence from team owner Arthur Blank. Blank, eager for a Super Bowl win, may view this current window as an opportunity. Considering potential replacements, Harbaugh stands as one option. He has a successful NFL track record, notably developing QBs like Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith.

Harbaugh’s ability to nurture quarterbacks could appeal to the Falcons, especially when considering that the team will look to target top quarterbacks for the franchise. On the other hand, despite this season’s underwhelming performance, Belichick remains one of the top coaches in the league. The Falcons struggled in their offensive side this season, so adding Belichick and his popular “offensive coaching mindset” will help the franchise to grow stronger and make a strong comeback, if Bill and the team’s determination align.
