With the Chicago Bears having the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft order this year, everyone expects a quarterback change. Potential names are being tossed around, including the likes of Caleb Williams, Russell Wilson, and the current QB Justin Fields. While the Bears members have expressed their wish to retain Fields, Adam Schefter feels the QB might face a trade soon.

In an interview with Pat McAfee, Schefter put forth the possibility that the Pittsburgh Steelers might be in search of a new quarterback as a competition for Kenny Pickett. Whereas Ryan Tannehill and Desmond Ridder have been the top speculations so far, Schefter had other views on the matter. Let’s delve into what the NFL Insider feels about the future of Fields and the potential quarterback choices for the Bears and Steelers.

With Ryan Tannehill becoming a free agent, he seems to be the obvious choice for the Steelers. This sentiment was further strengthened when the head coach, Mike Tomlin, said he wants competition for Pickett this upcoming season. Contrary to popular opinions, Adam Schefter seems positive that Fields might stand a good chance of landing in the Pittsburgh Steelers. In an interview with Pat McAfee, he pointed out that Tomlin is quite fond of Fields and might be considering him as a top choice for QB.

The X post by Pat McAfee reflected on a similar sentiment. It read, “Pittsburgh is gonna go out and get another Quarterback. Keep in mind that Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Justin Fields.”An additional weighing factor for the Steelers leaning towards picking Fields is their newly appointed offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith. During his time as the head coach of the Falcons, Smith had expressed positive views about Fields in the past, and the Smith-Fields fit was seen as the obvious choice.

“The thing that I think makes Justin so unique is he’s such a powerful runner once he gets going. Even when they get pressure, guys have a hard time bringing him down. When he gets out of it, if you’re not strong and don’t use fundamentals or you don’t have rush integrity, especially when the defense has their back turned, those are damn near home runs once he gets going because he’s a powerful runner.”

While the speculations concerning Justin Fields possible trade have surrounded the NFL realm, there is another football player who has been under the scrutiny of many experts. It is none other than Caleb Williams. The quarterback appears to be on the list of possible picks for teams, especially the Bears who might be in search of one if Fields shifts the team.

Will the Bears utilize their pick privilege and go for Caleb Williams?

With the Chicago Bears’ players showing support for Fields to continue in the team this upcoming season, everyone thought that it was a done deal for the quarterback. However, the tempting pick order in the NFL draft reignited talks of the possibility of a trade. Caleb Williams from USC seems to be the top candidate at the moment, leaving Fields’ future uncertain in Chicago.

Manager Ryan Poles and staff face a difficult decision ahead. They can either choose to retain Fields as the quarterback, letting go of their 1st pick privilege, or they might choose to trade him for a QB of their choice, the top choice seemingly being Caleb Williams.

Everyone understands the gravity of such a decision, but that hasn’t stopped Fields supporters in Chicago from voicing their opinions. Wide receiver DJ Moore talked about his stand on the Super Bowl 58 Radio Show. “I think everybody knows where I stand, So let’s see what happens. The case is what it has always been, you know, he’s still on up. He’s young, and he’s 24. I just learned that. … But, yeah, he’s on the up.”

However, despite the massive support, the chances of Fields remaining in the Bears appear slim at the moment. Moreover, if the Steelers trade takes place, it will open the possibility for fans to watch Smith-Fields magic unfold. What is your take on Caleb Smith’s transfer to Bears? Do you think Steelers will go for Fields?
