Patrick Mahomes may just be on top of the world. The Chiefs have now become the first repeat champions in 20 years. The seventh-longest game in the history of the NFL saw a change in script with the Chiefs’ overtime 25-22 victory. Andy Reid, the man always at work, deserves due credit as Kansas City Chiefs establish a legacy by claiming the third Super Bowl title.

While Andy Reid’s retirement rumors remain a subject of discussion, Patrick Mahomes’ post-game declaration hints in favor of an extended stay.

In a post-game show, Patrick Mahomes spoke highly about Andy Reid and made a declaration. Speaking to the press in a post-game Pow-Wow, Mahomes laid it out straight. “He’s the best coach of all time. I believe he’s the best coach of all time. The way he’s able to navigate every single team he has and for me, he brings out the best in me. Because he lets me be me. I think that’s important.”

Sometime earlier, Mahomes was asked about his thoughts on Andy Reid’s retirement rumors. While Mahomes graciously declined to reveal Reid’s play call, he dropped a hint that’s tough to evade. The superstar QB suggests that Reid’s NFL journey might not hit the end zone anytime soon. Departing mid-tide amidst the Chiefs’ historic surge would be a particularly bold move for the revered coach.

Andy Reid seems to have honored Clark Hunt’s wish!

With a few more seasons under his headset, Reid could find himself rewriting the record books, inching ever closer to the legendary Don Shula’s wins tally. Reid holds the line at fourth, a mere 70 victories shy of Shula’s hallowed 328.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt too doesn’t think Reid will hang his headset anytime soon either. He expressed his desire to NFL Network post-game, stating: “My pitch to him is Patrick is under contract for another eight years. … I expect Andy to be back next year as we go for the three-peat.”

Realistically, Andy Reid doesn’t appear any closer to his retirement. Per the latest updates,  CBS Sports’ The NFL Today analyst and Super Bowl-winning HC Bill Cowher also tried extracting a solid answer to these rumors. The 65-year-old coach responded, “I get asked that I’m good. I feel great. They say it just hits you, (but) it hasn’t hit me. That’s the best answer I can give.”
