The Ravens RB Derrick Henry started making headlines when his views on ‘body maintenance’ were discussed on air by Fox Sports Reporters. Henry follows an insane dieting and fitness roadmap, costing him a quarter million. Though many sports people have a specific diet and routine, we can say Ja’Marr Chase is surely not one of those serious dudes!

The Cincinnati Bengals star opened up honestly about his diet and eating discipline. He iterated, “I’m not really one of those guys that sit there and try to like [to] eat real…real healthy! I’m not gonna lie.” However, after this confession, he continued to say, “I can eat horrible and still play good. So I don’t think that’s something that I stay away from”.

Well, the Jersey No. 1 means it when he admitted he played well; he is tearing the league apart this season. Even in the last game against the Ravens on November 8, he scored a staggering three touchdowns with 11 receptions for 264 yards. He hasn’t missed an opportunity to contribute a touchdown for the franchise since his September 24  game against the Washington, except against the Giants and the Raiders.

Coming back to his diet discussion, the 24-year-old also shared his favorite food destination and breakfast meals. “Uh…probably Joella’s chicken, bro. They got that chicken and waffles. I’m like, I love their waffles, ” Ja’Marr smilingly said. He also named some other spots where he loved to have a bite, like, “I love their [McDonald’s] breakfast. But I’m McGriddle guy.”

We can say the Bengals star does not care at all about a Derrick Henry-like diet. But he tries to be his true self without experiencing FOMO. And he’s doing good where it’s needed: on the field.

What’s your perspective on:

Does Ja'Marr Chase's success prove that strict diets are overrated in professional sports?

Have an interesting take?

Yes, he is top in all three major stats so far. The jersey No.1 has scored 10 touchdowns with 66 receptions for 981 yards in total this year, after playing 10 games. His elite change-of-direction skills and powerful run make the franchise rely on the 6-footer wide receiver. If we go back to the 2021 season, the 201 lb WR managed to contribute 13 TDs from his end.

But if you observe, the wide receiver’s performance seems unusual when the franchise is losing. Let me explain here. If you go through all of his 10 games this season, out of a total of 66 receptions, 46 receptions he had were when the Bengals lost those games. But it’s not only about receptions but also about the total yards he covered.

The Bengals WR covered a total of 256 yards, but in the November 8 game against the Ravens, he ran a massive 264 yards. It seems the WR goes beast mode to save his franchise from a loss.

Well, standing 3rd in the AFC North Division, the Bengals have recorded 4 wins out of 10 games so far. As a wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase seems all set to confront the Chargers on November 18 at the SoFi Stadium. Afterall, the team needs to win if they wish to keep their playoff hopes alive.
