This first week of March will be crucial for the Cincinnati Bengals. The team had taken a long time to adjust their roster and coaching staff. And as the new league year begins soon, the final calls by them need to be made. Already there have been announcements regarding player releases and re-signings. But, what about the coaching staff? After all, Zac Taylor would need a good staff to address the team’s issues during practice, right? Well, the wait for the coaching staff has officially ended.
The Bengals returned to the X to make a major statement about Zac Taylor’s team. The defense was the weak point for the team last season, so they have made changes in that department only. They revealed that there will be two new members joining them, both of whom will hold important positions. First and foremost, we have Sean Desai, who brings more than a decade of experience on the table. As the senior defensive assistant, he will be in charge of the key defensive tactics. And after him there is Mike Moon, who will be joining the team as the defensive assistant.

The X about their position announcement read: “We have hired Sean Desai as senior defensive assistant and Mike Moon as defensive assistant.”This announcement has generated an amazing amount of buzz. Fans understand that fixing the Bengals’ defensive system will solve half of the team’s problems. And for that hiring Desai and Moon was one of the best things the team could do. But wait there’s more. The team has also released Alex Cappa, thus these two new coordinators will be working with a new guard on the team. Ooo, that could be interesting to watch.
All of this decision could also signal that the squad intends to start with zero in terms of their defensive line. New entries through the NFL Draft and free agency are rumored to be taking place once the new league year kicks in. HC Zac Taylor is also ensuring that if the organization selects a player in the NFL Draft, it will be a good one. Taylor even attended the NFL Combine to interview a few young players.

While this is wonderful news for defense, what about offense? The team has yet to make big decisions on that part too, as their two massive WRs Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase remain in the middle. And, while Joe Burrow is pushing for them on the team, what does Zac Taylor think of them?
Zac Taylor respects Joe Burrow’s views about retaining Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase
The NFL industry has already predicted that Tee Higgins will be the number 1 hottest free agent in 2025. Things appear to be headed in that direction as the Bengals have not yet made their decision. Yup, it is indeed frustrating to wait. But if the team wants to release him, what’s the delay? There’s one factor stopping it from happening. Yup, it’s Joe Burrow. Zac Taylor, the HC, has claimed that Burrow has a strong image backstage. He has earned this image with his game, and if he makes requests, the team takes them seriously.

What’s your perspective on:
Will Sean Desai's experience be the game-changer the Bengals' defense desperately needs?
Have an interesting take?
Zac Taylor also mentioned that the team may yet be able to replace Higgins with another quality player. He revealed, “We have a plan going into this offseason. We understand the caliber of player that we have and how important these guys have been to us… When you have a known commodity, I think that’s where sometimes it’s a little bit callous to just say, ‘Well, there’s other guys that can do this, this and this that I’ve seen this person do.’ Well, you just don’t know. You’re introducing a degree of unknown that is hard to solve for”
If all of this is true, every NFL team should get ready with some good chunk of money for Tee Higgins. Only time will tell whether Cincinnati makes this release or keeps their WR. Until then, let us know your thoughts on everything going on with the Bengals. Do you believe the team is on the right path?
