“There’s only one way for us to have success here and that’s [having] the right people in place,” a promise Ben Johnson made in his first presser as the Bears head coach. You see, this is Johnson’s first job as an HC and he definitely does not want to mess it up. Yes, Rodgers boasts an impressive legacy, but at this stage, he’s become more of a liability than an asset in the NFL. “Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” even the Jets made it clear that they want to move on from the legendary QB now. So, why would the Bears be eyeing the four-time MVP and Super Bowl champ?
Make no mistakes, the Bears already have a superstar QB in the making in Caleb Williams. Yes, Williams did not have a good season in his rookie year, as he was getting sacked every now and then throughout the season. But that doesn’t mean the 23-year-old would be comfortable sharing a roster with Aaron Rodgers, a veteran clearly looking for a team where he can eventually hang up his cleats. However, if not as a QB1, the Bears actually may benefit from the Packers legend if they ever end up landing Rodgers. But there is a catch and the answer lies in Caleb Williams’ rookie season.
ESPN host Courtney Cronin doesn’t want Rodgers to be the QB1. “Is he finally at the point of self-actualization to realize maybe my best role is to bring on the next generation’s cause? He wouldn’t do it with Jordan Love. What about a place like Chicago,” asked Courtney…”I want to watch Aaron Rogers in the quarterback room developing the next great Aaron.”

Now, if the Bears really go through with this, we’re not sure if Rodgers will be the backup, but one thing’s for sure—Caleb Williams might just get himself a mentor. Well, it’s not gonna be as simple as it sounds. You see, if Rodgers comes along with the Bears, no matter if he’s a QB1 or a backup, Williams will surely have to listen to his calls. And that’s what Cronin’s co-host Chris Canty believes. “If you’re a player that’s as talented as Caleb Williams, there aren’t too many guys that a team could bring in as a backup quarterback that you would want to listen to, right,” said Canty.
“Because nobody is going to match the level of talent that you’re bringing to the table and nobody is going to have the credentials, the accolades that you would have to respect in that role…Save Aaron Rogers. You bring in a guy that’s won four MVPs, won a Super Bowl, and all of a sudden, if you’re Caleb Williams and Aaron Rodgers is telling ‘you need to look at a play differently,’ that matters.” Translation?
Aaron Rodgers to the Bears… as a backup? 🤔 https://t.co/0XoVZgOYzP pic.twitter.com/2almCWdYPt

The Bears drafted Williams as the first overall pick back in the 2024 NFL draft, and now signing someone who’s gonna tell him to look at the play differently might not be what the Bears are looking for. The reason? Sure, Williams didn’t have a standout season like Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix, and he was constantly getting sacked in his rookie season, Canty believes that with the amount of talent that Williams carries, he wouldn’t really need to listen to a backup quarterback who’s nowhere near as accomplished. BUT! Aaron Rodgers is an obvious exception to that—considering Rodgers has won 4 MVPs and a Super Bowl.
If Rodgers wants to be a mentor for the next generation, then Chicago might not be the worst place for him as well as for Caleb Williams. The problem is, it’s unlikely that Rodgers would want to be in that spot. If the Bears decide to bring Rodgers on board next season, they’ve definitely got some big questions to deal with.
For starters, the Jets thought that Rodgers was a distraction for the team and they decided to cast him off before the final season of his contract. So, here’s the thing—if Ben Johnson and the Bears are serious about bringing in Rodgers, they’ve got to make sure the same outcome doesn’t happen.
On top of that, if Williams struggles in his sophomore season, you can bet there’ll be calls for Aaron Rodgers to step in and take over. And that’s definitely not how the team wants to mentor Williams.

After a rough 5-12 season, one thing’s for sure—the Bears are gonna be under the microscope this offseason. And to flip the tables in the next season, the organization hired Ben Johnson as their next head coach. However, looks like the team may lose the veteran wide receiver—Keenan Allen in 2025.
Bears may lose their veteran wide receiver!
Yep, you read that right. The 32-year-old WR signed a two-year deal with the Chicago team last offseason. Now, here’s the thing: According to Sportsnaut’s Andrew Buller-Russ, Allen may sign with the Giants who’re looking for a new receiver as well. “The Giants will be hunting for a long-term QB solution this offseason, but fourth-year general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll need to win now,” wrote Buller-Russ. “That means they’ll be prioritizing high-level veteran upgrades such as Russell Wilson and receiver Keenan Allen.”

You see, the Bears signed Allen to a two-year, $22M deal, hoping he’d bring some of that Chargers magic with him. But what they got was a reality check. Allen had one of the worst seasons of his career and recorded just 744 yards with 6 touchdowns. And now? Well, it looks like the Bears may part ways with him in the coming off-season.
And let’s be real—the team can surely afford to lose him, considering they’re hoping for a breakout from Rome Odunze and already have D.J. Moore. But what about Allen? Well, the Giants recently had a chat with the veteran QB Russell Wilson for the next season. According to Biller-Russ, Keenan Allen may find success with the New York team while working with Wilson.
