Can Russell Wilson's current form with the Steelers silence his critics once and for all?

Now-Steeler Russell Wilson‘s costly breakup with the Seattle Seahawks is very well-known worldwide. Things weren’t really great between the QB and his teammates during his time at the Lumen Fields. After 2 years since Wilson parted ways with the Hawks, his former Super Bowl-winning teammate has now revealed one of the reasons why the player couldn’t connect with many of his fellow teammates.

In a recent episode of ‘Games with Names‘, ex-Seahawks DL Michael Bennett opened up about why he feels the people could not connect with the QB. Bennett revealed that unlike his other fellow teammate Marshawn Lynch who was always present for any social event amongst the teammates, Wilson was never present in most of those. He added, “People started feeling a certain way you know what I mean because it’s like everybody’s showing up to everybody’s thing, but it’s like ‘wait you’re not coming’.”

Bennett went on to say that teammates go to each other’s birthday parties, weddings, etc. They want to see each other invested in those types of occasions, and when one of them avoids those, others can smell that and understand “something is weird”. From what the DL said, even with a 9-year connection with the team and the players, it surely seems that the 9xPro-Bowler wasn’t a big fan of social gatherings as kept his distance from them, doesn’t it?

After parting ways, he moved to Broncos. But well, it seems he wasn’t welcomed there for long either. After just two seasons, in March 2024  he moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal for a veteran’s minimum $2.1 million. However, he was out with a calf injury until week 7 of this season before making his debut for Mike Tomlin’s side. The player has made a decent start to this season. So far, he has a pass completion percentage of 63.2%, with three touchdowns for 542 passing yards.

As of now, the team’s currently leading the AFC North with a 6-2 record and following a three-game winning streak, Wilson and Co. will now face the Washington Commanders at the North West Stadium for a Sunday night clash on November 10. It now needs to be seen if Wilson can help his team keep on with their winning run or if it’s time for another twist in the tale as the regular season gets closer to its end.

Former SB champion apologizes to Russell Wilson following his phenomenal start

Ex-Rams DE and 2x Super Bowl winner Chris Long has publicly apologized to Russell Wilson for his previous comments on the QB. Last year the 39-year-old was asked if Wilson would ever play at a playoff game. To this, he simply said that the QB would never play a playoff game again. He further added, “Russell Wilson is seeing how the other half lives. He’s not only feeling the unfairness of the NFL, but he’s also feeling the pressure….the minute he doesn’t play well, that stadium, that city’s gonna turn on him.

However, following Wilson’s stunning start to his new life at the Steelers, Chris Long, in the latest interview, took back his statement and labeled him as the ‘perfect QB‘ for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers system. Long said, “I’ve gotten a lot of things right over the last year. This is one that I didn’t get right. Justin Fields didn’t do quite enough, and he might be perfect for what they’re trying to do.”
