The Chicago Bears have had a season to forget. With 6 straight losses, they are simply struggling to stay afloat. And in a playful twist of fate, the Bears are being told to break the heart of Detroit Lions‘ celebrity superfan Eminem. Why?
Because Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has a bold suggestion. Talking with Devin McCourty, Mike cleared his stance. “I’d want Ben Johnson tied to Caleb Williams for the next 10 years; that’s what I’m thinking.” He substantiated his pick by mentioning two points. “I would want Ben Johnson in Chicago because number one, I’m taking him from the Lions, and number two, look at what he’s done with Jared Goff.” McCourty, though, had a different suggestion to begin with.
“I’m going to go coach Belichick… I think he’s the top guy no matter what the situation.” McCourty straightaway rooted for coach Belichick for the Bears’ HC position. Mike supported Devin’s suggestion and claimed coach Belichick was on his list too. “The guy is the best game-day coach in NFL history; he’s the best at preparing players to play all the things we talk about.” Even though Mike stood with Ben as the best option.

The Lions’ offensive mastermind has been instrumental in making Jared Goff look like an elite quarterback, no doubt. Goff’s 2024 season performance has been nothing short of brilliant. With 2,982 yards, he ranks 8th. And when it comes to touchdown, he has 22 of them. Placing him at 5th. Over the past season, the Lions ranked top five in total yards, passing, and scoring. The Bears?
They lost 23-20 after a botched final drive on Nov. 28. Eberflus’s clock management and comments post-game, especially the “I think we handled it the right way” statement, didn’t strike a chord with the fans. And it led to his consequent firing. The Bears are now being urged to poach Johnson. But how realistic is that?
Could Johnson and Williams be the NFL’s next power duo?
Here’s the catch. Johnson is possibly staying put in Detroit. After multiple interviews with teams last offseason, including the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks, Johnson decided to remain in Detroit for another year, turning down head coaching positions to make one last Super Bowl push with the Lions. In fact, he’s such a fan favorite that even Eminem, Detroit’s iconic superfan, couldn’t resist sharing his excitement after Ben decided to stay back.

After hearing the news, Em even joked about writing a diss track directed at Johnson—only to toss it in the trash, signaling that the team’s fate is too promising to disrupt. “Guess I should stop recording this diss track..!! Lol!! @ Ben Johnson Thank you for staying!!! We can’t break this team up ESPECIALLY since I’M on it!!!” The rapper’s playful comments aside, Johnson’s presence in Detroit is a big win for the Lions. But what does this mean for the Bears?
Caleb Williams sure looks like the franchise’s future. But the question now is: who will develop him? With Ben Johnson off the table, the Bears’ search for a head coach just became even more crucial.

Not only do the Bears need a coach who can work wonders with a young QB, they also need to win over a fanbase that’s growing increasingly frustrated. As for the Lions? Well, they’re just one more year closer to the potential Super Bowl dreams. With a coach who’s already proven, he can maximize the surrounding talent.
