The Houston Texans–Chicago Bears Hall of Fame game has been suspended. But this bad news was accompanied by something good. It looks like the Chicago Bears fans might get a chance to rejoice after all. The team is investing in a new stadium and Kevin Fishbain, writer for The Athletic, revealed Bears’ future plans.
In a post on X Fishbain wrote, “On ESPN, Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren said the goal is still to have a shovel in the ground by 2025 with a new stadium open in 2028.”
He later followed it up by adding, “Warren reiterated that the museum campus downtown is the focus, but that the Bears are the largest landowners in Arlington Heights, too.”

While this is a great news for the Chicago Bears fans, it’s important to note that any deal between the lawmakers and the Bears is unlikely to go through this year, per Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. Per the Governor, the Bears haven’t put forward a proposal that would appeal to the legislature.
“I’ve done a lot of research on this topic,” Pritzker said on Monday. “But let me be clear: there isn’t much change. I made it clear to the Bears’ leadership that it would be near impossible to get anything done.”
He further added, “If there was a proposal put on the table by then that could get done, you couldn’t actually get it done, probably, during the veto session, and it would have to wait until next spring. In reality, there isn’t a proposal on the table right now that would be acceptable to anyone that I know in the legislature.”

The Chicago Bears plan to spend $2 billion on the project but would also need the help of taxpayers. They would need another $1.5 billion in public funding and another $1.5 billion in new borrowing, which needs approval from the lawmakers.
Coming back to the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame game, it’s highly unlikely that it would go on any further.

Chicago Bears for the victory
It started raining like cats and dogs when the game reached halftime. The game ended in 3:31 left in the third quarter with the Chicago Bears coming out victorious, 21-17. Initially, a thunderstorm took over the Tom Benson Stadium. After a delay of 30 mins, the game was finalized, and the Bears came out as winners.
While Caleb Williams and CJ Stroud didn’t play, the backup third string QB, Bears’ Brett Rypien stole the show with 3 touchdown passes. He passed for 166 yards and didn’t get intercepted or took any sacks. Colin Johnson was responsible for two of those touchdowns with Todd Sweeney also came out of the game with a lone touchdown.
