Sitting at the bottom of the NFC North with a 4-6 record, it’s been a rough season for Bears fans. The Bears are kind of stuck in the same cycle as some other teams, firing coaches, and benching players. I mean, someone’s got to be the scapegoat, right? And the management always manages to find one. A few weeks ago, the Bears fired OC Shane Waldron, and remember when the whole team turned on Caleb Williams? But let’s be real, it’s not just Caleb and the coaches struggling, it’s the whole team.
The Bears faced off Vikings in Week 12, at Soldier Field in Chicago. You won’t be surprised to hear they lost 27-30. You know what’s worse? The Bears somehow managed to tie the game at the end of the fourth quarter, only for it to slip away in overtime, losing to the Vikings by 3 points. Thanks to Sam Darnold who scored two touchdowns and also led Vikings to a win in the overtime. Let’s face it, the Bears have been a disappointment this season. And former player Patrick Mannelly isn’t shy about calling it out. “This team has quit! #Bears“, wrote the legend on his X.

But at least this time, they can’t blame their young QB. He performed surprisingly well, scoring two touchdowns and putting on an absolute show, especially in the first half of the game. Although, this loss pretty much shuts the door on their season. But for Williams, it was huge to show up and perform well. With all the doubts about his abilities, this game was a perfect answer to some of those questions. Williams wrapped up the game completing 32 of 47 passes for 340 yards, tossing 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Post the game, Williams gave a shoutout to their new OC, Thomas Brown, saying his approach let him play with more freedom when the pressure was on. While the QB has made strides under Brown’s guidance, the rest of the team still seems to be struggling to get it together. “Go be Superman at the end of the day”, said Brown to Williams at the eleventh hour.
Well, maybe now the Bears squad that wanted Tyson Bagent in and Caleb Williams out can chill a bit. And can focus on improving their own game instead.

Does the NFL have a bias toward Caleb Williams?
It was pretty clear that the Bears squad had a bias toward their young QB, especially after the loss to the Patriots when the whole team turned against him. There were even rumors that Matt Eberflus might bench Williams, with the rest of the squad reportedly fully supporting the decision. And this time, it’s the NFL referees showing the bias.
During the game against the Vikings, Williams took a late hit to the head in the first half that went unflagged. It was a questionable no-call that had fans and analysts talking about the lack of a penalty. Fans are pretty fired up, throwing shade at the NFL, saying if that hit had happened to Mahomes, they’d be sending out a whole investigation. Well, it’s time they should start reviewing these kinds of hits. That was just dirty.

Moving on, Bears fans are pouring praise on Caleb Williams. While also calling out head coach Matt Eberflus and the team’s defense. A user on X wrote “Fuck Matt Eberflus. Caleb Williams WILLED the Bears back into this game, and Flus’s soft-a** defense couldn’t stop the Vikings backed up within their own end zone at 1st and 20. Gave up every clutch third down conversion. Gave up big play after big play. Fire this clown.” Maybe the Bears management should have a chat with Eberflus before next season.
