In a nail-biting game, the Carolina Panthers gave the Green Bay Packers a tense contest on Sunday, but their efforts fell short as they faced a 33-30 defeat at home. The Panthers had a last-minute opportunity to orchestrate a drive for a potential game-tying field goal, but the clock ran out before quarterback Bryce Young could spike the ball.

This narrow loss solidifies the Chicago Bears‘ position in the race for the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft. So, the Bears have some options in their pocket, being the first ones to pick from the bundle. However, there’s a major dilemma in front of the team right now on whether to stick to their current choice or move toward a fresh prospect for the QB position.

The Bears’ general manager Ryan Poles has a strange choice in front of him. Either the team could stay focused on maintaining their current quarterback Justin Fields or they could replace him with a new one. Well, the best quarterback in that pick is potentially Caleb Williams of the USC. However, he has presumably shown disinterest in joining the Bears recently.

One of the Bears fans in a tweet had expressed their opinion on how if the Chicago team decides to opt for a shot caller, they should go with Marvin Harrison Jr., instead of Fields or even over Caleb Williams. Well, the young QB Williams had liked the post, which seemed to indicate his disinterest in wanting to be a part of the side.

So, this definitely will put Poles in a difficult situation because no team would want to recruit a disinterested player. While the Bears continue to look for a good quarterback, in recent games, Fields has also shown drastic improvement. Even the head coach Matt Eberflus vowed for the same.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus mentioned that he doesn’t perceive Justin Fields’ modest passing statistics in the 27-16 victory over the Arizona Cardinals as an issue as it doesn’t become a hindrance to the team’s consistent winning ability. Eberflus’s perspective underscores the importance of a broader understanding of impact beyond statistics. He emphasized Fields’ contributions to securing a decisive win rather than focusing solely on gaudy passing numbers.

Moreover, Eberflus said, “I see it as progress. When you’re the winning quarterback on the winning team, that’s always good, right? He’s been part of that; the last three out of four wins have been coming out of the two-minute, and he’s been part of that.” So, in the end, he stated, “I certainly do see progress.” After such statements from the head coach, there’s a chance that the Bears might continue with Fields for next season as well.
