riAll good things must come to an end and the curtains will now close on Robbie Gould. Gould played a crucial role in the Chicago Bears’ successes and then switched to the San Francisco 49ers, where he worked his magic again. The ace kicker will be severely missed by Bears fans, with whom he spent the majority of his career.

So, who was Robbie Gould and what do the Bears owe him? And as he bows out of the gridiron, what achievements can he look back at that will make his chest swell with pride?

@OfficialJAYCHI took to X to share that, “former #Bears kicker Robbie Gould has announced his retirement from the NFL.” Gould had played 11 seasons with the Bears and became its leading scorer with 1,207 points in 2015. It’s a record that has not been matched till now. He saw an amazing success rate, completing 85.4% of his field goals and a stunning 99.0% of his extra points. And when his team needed him most, he delivered.

He will go down as not just one of the greatest Bears kickers, but one of the best postseason kickers as well. During the 16 playoff games that he has played, he had a 100% success rate and successfully made all 68 of his field goal and extra point attempts. Gould was traded to the New York Giants in 2016, then eventually settled down in San Francisco till 2022.

After the 2022 season, he had said that he was hoping to play again this season, but no offer had materialized so he decided to hang up his cleats.

Gould expresses his gratitude to the NFL community

In a lengthy Instagram post, he was all praises for the NFL and thanked the league for changing his life. “My level of gratitude for the journey — the ups, the downs, the in between — is immeasurable.” In 2019, the Bears rewarded him for his contribution to the team by enshrining him at number 62 in a list of “100 Greatest Bears Players of All Time”.

“As I look back over the entirety of my career, it’s kind of ironic because the thing I’m going to miss the most isn’t really even all that much about the actual game of football. I’ll miss being a part of a football team,” he said as he walked down memory lane. Gould, who turned 41 yesterday is a husband and a father and will now spend his retirement days with his family.
