The Monday morning couldn’t be merrier for the Detroit Lions. They crushed the Dallas Cowboys in the week 6 game at AT&T Stadium. The scoreboard read- 47-9. They just did not win the game, they ruled it. The massive win gave fans and followers a reason to celebrate. Sports show ‘First Take’ host, Stephen A. Smith took a dig at the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, but he was well intercepted by former Detroit Lions great RB, Barry Sanders.

Soon after the game, Stephen posted a video on IG trolling the Cowboys. Laughing menacingly, he said, “I know what u saw happen today. It’s not just a victory, it’s a blow-up, on Jerry’s birthday by the way. I’m not saying a happy birthday. He doesn’t deserve his 82nd birthday like that.” Demanding the much-deserved credit for the thumping win, Barry Sanders commented on Smith’s post, “How about the Detroit Lions, you have to give us some credit.” This mocking comment summed it all up.

It was a banging win for the Lions. They roared right from the kick-off. David Montgomery made the first TD in the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter as well, it was all Lions. Jake Bates scored two beautiful FGs. QB Jared Goff led the Lions to the victory with 315 passing yards and three TDs. The Cowboys failed to reach the endzone. They scored zero TDs, with their only nine points coming from three field goals by Brandon Aubrey.

Will coach McCarthy lose his job? Debased Jerry Jones comments

This was the Cowboys’ most embarrassing loss against the Detroit Lions. The last time they were smothered like this was during the 1992 season. Interestingly, Barry Sanders was part of that Lions squad, and he scored a rushing TD in that game too. The Lions won that matchup 38-6. To top it off, the worst loss came on the 82nd birthday of team owner Jerry Jones. Instead of receiving birthday wishes, he faced stinging questions after the game.

Journos were quick to ask about the future of the Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy. Jones answered, “I’m not ready to talk about changes right now. Very, very (disappointing). We all know you should feel better at home.” His expressions said it all.

This is the second time this season that they have conceded more than 40 points. They won their games against the Steelers (20-17) and the Giants (20-15), but both were quite narrow. In week 7, the Cowboys will face the 49ers at Acrisure Stadium. Fans hope that they forget this loss and plan for better results.
