The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been marvelous this season, owing in large part to the energy their QB Baker Mayfield brings. The man has been the driving force behind the team’s strong enthusiasm. No doubt there have been a lot of positive remarks regarding his energetic gameplay tactics. Rob Gronkowski was one such person who complimented him. “In honor of Baker Mayfield too, I’m going to take off my New England Patriots hat. I’m going to put on my other former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is kind of like a dude’s dude. He is kind of like a dog.”
“He is head-butting, he will go play paintball with you. He’ll go to the bar, probably six beers. You name it. I played pickleball with him. He is the ultimate teammate. He is like an ultimate locker room guy. It is like a guy that, you know, quarterbacks aren’t really like this. I feel like he would get in the trenches with you. He is a guy that wants to see you be an absolute dog. He is a guy that is cheering you on,” he shared on the Dudes on Dudes podcast.
These were some of the finest compliments Gronkowski could have delivered to the quarterback. While fans would have loved this, we are sure Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily, would have been the happiest upon hearing it. She shared the reel of Gronkowski, complimenting her husband, and reacted to it. What were her thoughts?

Her Instagram story read, “I want Gronk to record Children’s book audibles.”

We can’t be too sure about what Emily meant here. But her reaction reminded us that the couple runs a foundation called ‘Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation’. As a part of this, their foundation provides financial support programs to the ‘Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County’. This benefits a lot of young kids as they get the best possible early learning experiences and also supports the families and teachers who care for them.

Aside from all these things, if we get back to the podcast, Rob Gronkowski stated that he and Baker Mayfield had a great time in person, too.
Rob Gronkowski is correct about Baker Mayfield!
Gronkowski’s compliments for Mayfield come from the fact that they spent time together and so, he had a first-hand experience of the energy the QB brings with him.
He entered the NFL with a great start as he was drafted as the No. 1 pick in 2018 by the Cleveland Browns. After the Browns, he switched to the Carolina Panthers, then the Los Angeles Rams, and eventually made his way to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His entry into the Buccaneers gave the team a new hope. He seemed like a perfect addition as Tom Brady retired.
In fact, the Bucs were the oldest team in the NFL in Tom Brady’s final season (average age: 27.15 years) but were the youngest under Mayfield (25.3). So when the QB entered the team, he quickly found ways of connecting with his new teammates. Upon his arrival, he spent a lot of time with Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, and others off the field.
“I had a relationship with Tom, but it wasn’t like the relationship I have with Bake,” Tristan Wirfs explained last year. “It’s just different. It’s hard to explain, you know? Tom was like more of a — not a coach — but as a 21-year-old kid seeing Tom Brady (in 2020), that’s how I looked at him. I’m not going to go out and have beers with Tom, you know? So it’s just a little bit different in that regard.”
It looks like Rob Gronkowski was correct about Baker Mayfield. He indeed does spend a lot of time with his teammates, don’t you think?
