Time and time again, the biggest names in the NFL have used their platform and wealth to give back at helping kids, supporting military families, or funding disaster relief, showing that football is more than what happens on Sundays. Patrick Mahomes helps kids through his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. J.J. Watt raised over $40 million for Hurricane Harvey relief. Saquon Barkley supports youth programs in New York and his hometown. And now young stars are making an impact too. C.J. Stroud has started a scholarship program, and Tua Tagovailoa gives back to communities in Hawaii and Alabama. Adding more names to the growing list is Baker Mayfield with his latest announcement.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB just announced a $50,000 donation to the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation. That helps kids and families in need. They focus on providing education, scholarships, and uplifting the community. It’s a cause he deeply believes in, and he made sure to emphasize in his announcement. Baker Mayfield along with his wife Emily Mayfield showed up on Instagram with an announcement post where the QB said, “Hey everybody, we are coming here today with an exciting announcement, the Tampa Bay community has been so great to us, and so many of our fellow athletes are coming together, with some of our friends, to get back to the community and many other non-profits doing incredible work here.”
Emily added to that, “So we’re joining several Tampa Bay athletes, as they go head to head against one another in the 2025 giving bowl. Each athlete will have a non-profit partner, and they will work to advance the competition in our foundation, the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation, which will give a significant amount of donations to each of the charities, throughout the three-week competition.” Baker ended it with, “Competition starts Monday, stay tuned.” as Emily chimed in with a, “stay tuned!”

They posted the announcement with a caption: “We are so excited to get our first-ever Giving Bowl underway with help from five other Tampa Bay athletes! Competition gets underway Monday, and these athletes will need your support to advance in the #GivingBowl to win up to $50,000 from the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation for their charity!”
This isn’t the first time Mayfield was up for community work. He’s been active in charity work since his days in Cleveland, where he supported underprivileged children and military families. His Tampa Bay contribution is just another example of his commitment to making a difference. Teammates wasted no time praising him. Fans loved it too. Social media lit up with messages thanking Mayfield for his generosity.
Mayfield’s donation is proving that he’s not just here to play football, showing everyone why he’s the face of the franchise. The Buccaneers have a QB, who cares about the city he represents. But that’s not the only update with Bucas as there’s a lot more going on behind the back!

Todd Bowles takes big roster move decision for the Bucs’ future
Alongside Mayfield’s charity work, we have HC Todd Bowles’ major roster move for the Tampa Bay’s 2025 season. It is certain that linebacker Lavonte David is not going anywhere. He is returning for his 14th season with the Buccaneers, signing a one-year, $10 million deal to stay in Tampa. With $9 million guaranteed, the Bucs are making sure their defensive leader sticks around. David put a post on his Instagram with the caption, “I love the game too much to give it up just yet! Good lord blessing me with another opportunity so I figured I should take advantage of it! Tampa I’m not done yet! See you soon!”

Fans are super happy about it, hyping him with the comments like, “OG🗣️”, “Run it back! Congrats Capt ” “WE BACKKKKKK😤😤😤” and honestly, it just wouldn’t feel right seeing him in another jersey. The Bucs’ defense gets to keep its heart and soul for at least one more season.
Don’t let his age fool you, David might be 35, but he’s still playing at a supreme level. Last season, he started all 17 games, with 122 tackles, 5.5 sacks, an interception, six passes defended, and three forced fumbles. That’s a linebacker in his glory. With Devin White likely leaving in free agency, David’s leadership value will only go up. He’s been the brains of Tampa’s defense for over a decade, and Todd Bowles will rely on him to keep the unit sharp. Whether it’s sniffing out a run play or getting the defense lined up properly, he’s the guy everyone looks to.

Bringing David back is a smart football strategy, Todd Bowles knows exactly what he wants from David. He is lining up the veteran leadership of David with younger talents for wins. Tampa still has playoff aspirations, and losing a defensive cornerstone like him would’ve left a major void. The Bucs want to stay competitive, and locking in their defensive captain was at the top of the priority list. His presence also sets the tone for younger players, reinforcing the “win-now” mindset in the locker room.
To put it together, Tampa Bay’s vision for the 2025 season is in focus. They’re leaning into physical football, giving Mayfield the tools he needs, and building a locker room culture that values leadership on and off the field.
