Super Bowl LIX had everything—history, heartbreak, and apparently, some truly bizarre off-field drama. The game itself? A lopsided Eagles win over the Chiefs. But the aftermath? That’s where things got weird. First, Harrison Butker’s pregame outfit vanished into thin air. Now, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is making headlines—not for his performance, but for a social media storm kicked up by his ex.
Turns out, the fireworks didn’t end when the confetti fell. Instead, they spilled onto the internet, where Gardner-Johnson’s former partner, Summer Bunni, went off, accusing him of everything from threatening their daughter to being absent from his kids’ lives. And if that wasn’t enough, the safety was already dealing with another battle—this time with Swifties—after his post-game comments about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift sparked a digital war. It’s messy, it’s dramatic, and it’s all unfolding in real time. Let’s break it down.
According to the reports by an X user, “The mother of Eagles player C. J. Gardner-Johnson’s two kids calls him out for sending threats to their daughter prior to the Super Bowl and not being present in their kids lives. She also speaks on @CGJXXIII lack of respect for Black women.”

The posts shared on the social media platform feature screenshots of Instagram stories posted by CJ Gardner-Johnson’s ex-partner, Summer Bunni. She arguably melted down in public, writing, “Yall letting that man hold that trophy ask him to hold his kids fr that’s not Super Bowl material. Everytime I look up Patrick mahomes is with his kids or even his own team mate Saquan like does he not have actual real human beings around him to correct this behavior? Aint no way. Then he had the nerve to say protect black queens??????????????? CJ Be Forreal You Have A Black Daughter You Send Threats Too Cause You Mad At Your Baby Mama!!!! Protect A Black Queen??? Let Me Cook….”
Wow! Seeing these messages and claims, it’s clear that her frustration is real for the athlete. Not only that! Besides accusing him of not being present in the kids’ lives, Bunni also claimed that he trash-talks players on the field but doesn’t back it up when challenged. She even pointed out moments when he got hit during games and just stood there without reacting.
Her rant for CJ Gardner-Johnson didn’t end up there. She mocked his claim of protecting “Black queens,” sarcastically questioning if he really stands by that. Then, she went off about his comments on a podcast where he referred to “his kids,” demanding to know what kids he was talking about, since she claims she has been the one raising them without his help. She made it clear that she has never asked him for anything and ended with a jab, agreeing with his own words that his life is a “square” but using it to call him out.
Now whether the claims are true or not, it’s pretty clear that there is little going right in Bunni and even CJ Gardner-Johnson’s life. This is because the safety too invited some personal attacks on his family before this incident.
CJ Gardner-Johnson’s family business attacked
Summer Bunni’s post came after CJ Gardner-Johnson’s momma replied to the bad reviews she got for her Florida restaurant. But what exactly happened? Well, after the win, the safety took an ugly jab at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship. He said that the TE should have stayed with his ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole, while indirectly body-shaming the billionaire pop star. This didn’t sit well with the Swifties, who took to social media to send hateful comments to the player as well as his momma on her restaurant’s reviews.

In response to this, CJ Gardner-Johnson’s mom, Delatron Johnson, said, “I have friends who were sending me the screenshots. They were going, ‘Oh my God, look at this!’ And the first thing everyone said was, ‘The Swifties have attacked.’ The joke is really on the Swifties and everybody that’s entertaining the reviews because King’s Grill is closed. … There’s really no backlash to King’s Grill because we are in the process of selling King’s Grill anyways. It didn’t affect us one way or another.”
So the negative comments don’t seem to have affected CJ Gardner-Johnson’s parents and their restaurant service. On the other hand, Kelce and Swift’s fans continue to be frustrated with the player’s jab at the couple. Whether his hard-man reputation will survive the surprise haymaker from his baby mama remains to be seen.
