The Minnesota Vikings are flying high lately in the season. Quarterback Josh Dobbs has settled down fairly quickly to fill the Kirk Cousins void. They are on a four-game win streak, and yet to be bettered since the loss against the Chiefs last month. Now, the NFC North division team is all set to face Russell Wilson‘s Denver Broncos. While Wilson and his squad seemingly had a December of meaningless football, can the ‘magician’ QB flip the fate as his squad gears up to take down the Vikings?
The Broncos are another side that has found the rhythm late in the season. They are on a three-game win streak, which too, started after a loss against the Chiefs. And the streak contains a sweet revenge against the defending champions as well. If the Vikings train could be stopped, the Broncos are among the few that can do that. So let’s compare both QBs’ stats in the season as they prepare to end each other’s streak.

Dobbs has broken out lately in the season, taking up the lead role after Cousins’ season-ending injury. So it might be a bit unfair to compare him to ‘Mr. Comeback’. But that’s where the surprise lies.
Dobbs has thrown for 1995 yards in 10 games this season. He has 210-330 passes with a completion rate of 63.6, along with 11 touchdowns. His best figures came against the 49ers in week four, where he threw 28-41 for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns. Subsequently, Dobbs’ best rating came against the Cowboys where he accumulated a 120 passer rating.
Wilson on the other hand, is an old player in the game. He has thrown for 1806 yards in same number of games. The QB has 118-262 passes with a completion rate of 67.9, along with 18 touchdowns. His best figures came against the Commanders in week two, where he threw 18-32 for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns. Subsequently, Wilson’s best rating was from the Bears game where he received a 133.5 passer rating.
Surprisingly, despite taking up the lead late, Dobbs has the upper hand on Wilson in total passing yards and completions. However, the latter has an edge over the 28-year-old in touchdown and passer rating. What do these indicate when these two face today at 6:20 PM ET at Empower Field? Only time will tell, but we can somewhat draw assumptions from their past records.

After getting drafted by the Steelers in the NFL 2017, Dobbs is finally looking to have settled down after changing hands multiple times. The Aerospace Engineering graduate has played for 7 different teams, including the Vikings, and hasn’t had a memorable career in the NFL so far. But this is the closest he has ever come to the status of a superstar. And to achieve that, he has to overcome the Russell Wilson hurdle, which might not be impossible for the skyrocketing QB.
Wilson on the other end, is living up to his ‘Mr. Comeback’ nickname every other game. Whether it’s a commendable win against the Chiefs or bouncing back in the season altogether, Wilson has come back from behind to surprise everyone. Even nearing the end of his career at 34, the QB is just as good as before despite an average-at-best Broncos side. They are 5-4 in the season, and to complete the comeback fully and push for the playoff spot, they to win their next game. So Dobbs and co. could well be his next victim.

But these are assumptions at most. And the real comeback story will only be scripted once the two sides lock horns at Broncos’ home turf at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The countdown begins!
