Since Russell Wilson‘s return from injury, there has been a debate about who Mike Tomlin would choose as the team’s QB1. Even though young Justin Fields gave the team a 3-0 start which later turned into a 4-2 after week 6, it seems that wasn’t enough to cement his place as the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ starting quarterback. HC Tomlin has hinted at possibilities of starting 35-year-old veteran to start against the New York Jets this Sunday at the Acrisure stadium. Expectedlky, there have been divided opinions amongst the Steeler Nation over the team’s QB situation. And just like any other Steelers fan, rapper Snoop Dogg has cleared his stance over this issue.
In a recent episode of ESPN’s ‘First Take‘, the rapper talked about his favorite NFL side. While addressing the team’s QB situation, Snoop Dogg mentioned that the team would be right and said, “Two is better than one”. The 2022 Emmy Award winner, while making his Super Bowl predictions, further backed his side as he added, “Steelers will win it no matter they are playing against. I don’t care who we are playing against.”

Well, let’s just say apart from last week’s performance against the Las Vegas Raiders, Fields has surely stood out to the expectations since making a trade move from the Chicago Bears. He has completed 106 of 160 passes and has 5 TDs and 1 interception under his belt for 1106 passing yards. But it feels like the Steelers’ hierarchy is planning to try out some changes and Wilson’s start seems more possible than probable as he took the first-team reps in this week’s practice.
As per ESPN’s Ian Rapoport, Wilson and Fields will play against the Jets on Sunday. The former Broncos QB is expected to take the bulk of snaps. HC Tomlin could use Fields as part of the third-down or red-zone package. It would be Wilson’s first start as a Steeler after he played 15 games for the Denver Broncos last season as they ended 7-8. Wilson completed 297 of 447 passes, with 26 TDs, and 8 interceptions for 3070 passing yards.
Now fans need to wait and see how things happen with Wilson in the offense, as it was originally planned before the start of the season. Will he add any value to the Steelers’ offense, which has been quite decent so far? Or will it be a call that Tomlin would regret after Sunday? Only time will tell.

Justin Fields reflects on potentially losing his starting line-up spot to veteran QB
What’s your perspective on:
Is Mike Tomlin risking the Steelers' season by choosing experience over youth with Russell Wilson?
Have an interesting take?
Justin Fields has opened up about potentially losing his QB1 spot to Russell Wilson. The ex-Bears QB candidly addressed this topic by sharing his thoughts on this ongoing debate.
In a recent press conference, Fields opened up about the Steelers’ QB situation. The player blamed his performance for being replaced: “I don’t think I played good enough if I’m being real with you”. He added, “If I’m being real with myself, if I did play well enough, I don’t think there would be any sort of (question) who should be playing who should not.”

Even though this is what the player felt, it seems that people have a different opinion and why wouldn’t they? The player has led the team incredibly well at the front in Wilson’s absence and in his very first year at Pittsburgh. But it seems Tomlin is leaning towards experience for the rest of the season as the veteran QB is back healthy from his calf injury.
If Wilson starts against the Jets as the Steelers’ QB1, he will surely have many eyes on him and will be judged for each of his steps on the ground. Fields getting his starting role back might depend on the veteran’s performance on Sunday.
