The Ricky Pearsall tragedy has caused a monumental change within the 49ers. It has affected people on a deep, personal level. So much so, that Trent Williams decided to come out of his holdout and be there for the team. The San Francisco 49ers have restructured a contract with him, and the tackle is supposed to hit the field soon.
He took to the podium after the recent incident at Union Square and said, “I’ve never experienced that, like, in my playing career to have a teammate, you know, sh-t, so to speak. So, in my mind, I’m like, man, I just want to get back, get around the team. Like, Ricky stood out to me because when I did, when I popped in for OTAs for the 30 minutes I was here.”
It would seem like none of the parties-49ers or Trent Williams want to drag the negotiations any further. Hence the 49ers gave him a reworked 3-year $82.66 million deal. Not only will the contract give him $48 million fully guaranteed, but it also comes with a hefty signing bonus of $25.69 million.

The $27.6 million base salary has made him one of the most expensive linemen playing in the league right now. Watching younger, inexperienced players like Penei Sewell, Tristan Wirfs, and Christian Darrisaw get paid more money than him is what prompted Trent Williams to seek a contract re-negotiation with the Niners.
Also, another problem with his contract was that he had 3 years left with zero guaranteed money. Thus, Williams had to do something about it. It’s also salient to note that at 36, the tackle is nearing his retirement. So that gave him more of an incentive to take immediate action. The league’s “volatile” nature forced his hand.
“It’s a volatile league,” Williams told reporters. “A guy my stature and my age, I thought security was important, and that was all.” However, Trent Williams isn’t the only Niner returning to practice.

Pearsall is back in the Niners’ weight room. Really? Tim Ryan, the 49ers radio analyst took to KNBR and noted that Pearsall is back in the gym. However, he didn’t provide any details on his workout regimen or whether he was training at all. However, Pearsall’s tenacity to give back to the team is unparalleled.
“I talked to him yesterday, he was actually in the weight room yesterday, and he laid the whole story for me down and what happened,” Ryan said. “Thank God it’s not worse than it was and he was able to react the way that he did in that split second.”
