Seems like the Herbert brothers inherited football passion from their grandpas. Back in the 1960s, Rich Schwab, their maternal grandfather, played receiver at the University of Oregon. While Justin Herbert’s paternal grandfather, Roger Herbert, a former Oregon sprinter, was a track coach at Sheldon High School. Later, Roger’s son, Mark Herbert, and Rich’s daughter, Holly, fell in love and started their family. And after that, their father Mark also played football at the University of Montana.

We can say, that Mitchell, Justin, and Patrick grew up listening to football stories of their father and grandfathers. The sports-loving atmosphere was perfect for them to see and achieve their dreams in the football world. In 2021, the family went to SoFi Stadium to meet their son on Thanksgiving.
